CHICAGO, Illinois, February 24. THE University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women picked up their third consecutive Horizon League title on Saturday, while the Wright State University men returned to the top of the podium to earn their seventh team title after last claiming the crown in 2005. <\/p>\n
On the men's side, the Cleveland State University Vikings finished second to the Raiders, coming in with 700.5 points. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee came in third with 622, followed by the University of Illinois at Chicago with 547.5, UW-Green Bay with 519 and Butler University at 219.<\/p>\n
For the women' the Phoenix defeated UW-Milwaukee by a narrow margin of 845 to 832.5. The duo was followed by Wright State at 737.5, UIC at 480, Youngstown State at 252.5, Cleveland State at 218.4 and Butler with 157.<\/p>\n
In the final days' events, Wright State junior Scott Lang continued his stellar performance at this year's League meet, picking up a win in the 1650, his fourth title on the week. Fellow Raider Aaron Eckstein also notched a win in the 200 backstroke, helping to cement the Raiders' team triumph. <\/p>\n
The 2006 champion Cleveland State men also claimed two individual victories on the day, with newcomer Jakub Dobies taking the men's 200 breaststroke and Chris Dalman completing his sweep of the diving events with a win on the 3-meter board. <\/p>\n
On the women's side, UW-Milwaukee's Lindsay Caldwell took the win in the 100 free to lead her team's charge on the final day. The Panthers claimed three individual titles (Caldwell in the 100 free, Molly Finn in the 200 fly, and Shannon Berndt in the 200 breast), but still could not overtake the Phoenix lead. Sophomore Danielle DeGrand picked up her second-straight victory in the 200 backstroke to pace Green Bay. In other individual women's action, Wright State's Catalina Martinez touched the wall in 17:14.34 in the 1650 free, notching her third-consecutive crown in the event. <\/p>\n
