Click on playlist drop down menu to view all the races.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mTETwPWLHTY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent&#038;listType=playlist&#038;list=PLrXo-jJXpl8dHyftehb0-OfPLFmHsQBP8\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>Original report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Maria Astashkina<\/strong> took center stage at the European Games with a World Junior Record in the women\u2019s 200-meter breast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Maria Astashkina<\/strong> downed the World Junior Record in the women\u2019s 200-meter breast with a time of 2:23.06. \u00a0That performance lowered the previous mark of 2:23.12 set by <strong>Viktoriya Solnceva<\/strong>at the 2013 World Junior Championships, and pushed Astashkina up to sixth in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>That win is Astashkina\u2019s second of the meet, having already topped the 50 breast with a 31.58 on day one. \u00a0She\u2019s now set up for a breaststroke sweep.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Giulia Verona<\/strong> finished second tonight in 2:25.91 with Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Layla Black<\/strong> earning third in 2:27.61.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> topped the men\u2019s 200-meter fly with a time of 1:57.04. That\u2019s his second individual medal of the meet, having finished third in the 50-meter fly on day one.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Giacomo Carini<\/strong> hit the wall second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.46, while France\u2019s<strong>Matthias Marsau<\/strong> claimed third in 1:58.96.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 100-meter free in 49.43 with Italy\u2019s <strong>Alessandro Miressi<\/strong>taking second in 50.03. \u00a0Russia\u2019s <strong>Vladislav Kozlov<\/strong> wound up third in 50.11.<\/p>\n<p>Austria\u2019s <strong>Sebastian Steffan<\/strong> picked up the men\u2019s 200-meter IM crown in 2:01.39 with Great Britain\u2019s<strong>Jarvis Parkinson<\/strong> touching second in 2:01.94. \u00a0Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Martyn Walton<\/strong> closed out the podium with a third-place 2:02.24.<\/p>\n<p>Austria\u2019s <strong>Caroline Pilhatsch<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 50-meter back in 28.60 with France\u2019s <strong>Pauline Mahieu<\/strong>placing just behind with a second-place 28.70. Russia\u2019s <strong>Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> picked up the bronze in 28.77.<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania\u2019s <strong>Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong> claimed the men\u2019s 50-meter breast title in 27.81. \u00a0Croatia\u2019s <strong>Nikola Obrovac<\/strong> placed second in 27.89 with Denmark\u2019s<strong> Tobias Bjerg<\/strong> earning third in 28.04.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Sveva Schiazzano<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 1500-meter free in 16:40.17. \u00a0Hungary\u2019s <strong>Janka Juhasz<\/strong>finished second in 16:40.39 in a close call for first. \u00a0Spain\u2019s <strong>Marina Castro Atalaya<\/strong> touched third in 16:46.16.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Aleksandr Prokofev<\/strong>, <strong>Nikolay Snegirev<\/strong>, <strong>Ernest Maksumov<\/strong> and <strong>Elisei Stepanov<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 800-meter free relay with a time of 7:16.08. Great Britain (7:19.36) and Germany (7:20.77) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Mariia Kameneva<\/strong>, <strong>Maria Astashkina<\/strong>, <strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> and <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong> clinched the women\u2019s 400-meter medley relay in a time of 4:03.22. \u00a0The Netherlands (4:07.99) and Great Britain (4:09.10) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n<p>That gave Astashkina her third gold of the meet, while Openysheva now has four golds and a silver.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEMIFINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lithuania\u2019s<strong> Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong> led the way in the men\u2019s 50-meter breast with a 27.75.
