In March, she made the U.S. Olympic team in two events. Two weeks later, she became the first UCLA woman ever to win an individual NCAA swim title. In July, she took home Olympic gold as a member of the U.S. 800 meter freestyle relay. Back in school, she first learned that she received a coveted NCAA Top 8 award, and on Dec. 7, her birthday, she was awarded a Rhodes scholarship! Read her story on page 28.
