SYDNEY, Australia, February 20. WHILE members of the United States National Team were preparing for the World Championships in Grand Prix action in Missouri, several Australians were tuning up at the NSW Championships. Among the highlights from Down Under were the efforts of Jessicah Schipper in the butterfly events.<\/p>\n
Schipper rolled to wins in the 50, 100 and 200 distances to demonstrate her preparedness for Melbourne, where she's expected to challenge her own world record in the 200 fly (2:05.40). Schipper went 2:07.50 in the longer fly at the NSW Champs and added efforts of 26.84 and 58.51 in the shorter disciplines. Meanwhile, Linda Mackenzie doubled in the 200 and 400 free with solid marks of 1:59.14 and 4:09.81.<\/p>\n
Mackenzie was followed by Jodie Henry (1:59.88) in the 200 free and edged out Kylie Palmer (4:10.01) in the 400 free. Henry managed a victory in the 100 freestyle (54.70) and was second in the 50 free, as her effort of 25.43 finished off the 25.23 of Alice Mills. In the 400 individual medley, Jennifer Reilly was the top finisher in 4:43.10.<\/p>\n
On the men's side, Brenton Rickard and Eamon Sullivan were the headliners. Rickard swept the breaststroke events in 28.63, 1:02.47 and 2:14.95. As for Sullivan, he continued to impress in the sprint events with winning times of 22.42 and 49.20 for the 50 free and 100 free. In the 200 free, Kenrick Monk checked in on top in 1:48.82.
