{"id":138895,"date":"2015-06-23T19:36:26","date_gmt":"2015-06-24T02:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=138895"},"modified":"2015-06-24T08:05:37","modified_gmt":"2015-06-24T15:05:37","slug":"jeanette-ottesen-marco-loughran-injured-during-road-rage-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jeanette-ottesen-marco-loughran-injured-during-road-rage-assault\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeanette Ottesen, Marco Loughran Injured During Road Rage Assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong>, a Danish world champion, and her boyfriend<strong> Marco Loughran<\/strong>, an English swimmer who competed for Florida at the NCAA level, have both been injured after being assaulted during a road rage attack in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ottesen, the attacker felt that Ottesen and Loughran were not moving fast enough, and pulled in front of the car and cut them off before grasping Loughran out of the car to pummel him.<\/p>\n<p>Ottesen tried to defend Loughran, but suffered a broken finger and a sprain of another finger.<\/p>\n<p>Loughran was much worse off, as he suffered a split eyebrow, several broken teeth, an injured shoulder and a scalp injury.<\/p>\n<p>Loughran is currently in the hospital to treat his injuries. He did not qualify for Great Britain&#8217;s world championship team, but is aiming for a place at the 2016 Olympics while he trains in Denmark.<\/p>\n<p>Ottesen, meanwhile, may not compete in the World Championship at all. That&#8217;s a huge blow for Denmark with Ottesen currently second in the world in the 50 fly (25.48) and 100 fly (57.15). Ottesen would be defending her 2013 world title in the 50 butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Ottesen has been told that she cannot swim for the next three weeks, putting her chances of competing at the World
