MINNEAPOLIS, Minneapolis, February 17. THE St. Olaf College men and the Gustavus Adolphus College women claimed MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n
St. Olaf sealed the win, its first conference title since 2001 and 23rd since 1977, with a first and fourth place finish on the 3-meter board. Christian Lorentzen swept diving events with his Saturday night win on the 3-meter board, setting an NCAA 11-dive qualifying mark of 492.70. Lorentzen, who won the 1-meter on Friday, earned his fourth straight Diver of the Meet with the performance.<\/p>\n
St. Olaf took three of the top four spots in the 200 Back, including champion Tom Kukla who swam the event in 1:54.37.<\/p>\n
The Oles' other win came from Ben Wareham, who defended his 2006 title in the 200 Breaststroke with 2:05.17. St. Olaf held four of the top five spots in the event.<\/p>\n
Gustavus finished close-behind in second place. Teammates Scott Hagemeyer and Brian Amundson shared the 100 Free crown with their 45.69 tie. The Gusties' first year Skylar Davis broke teammate Ben Hanson's meet record in the 1,650 Free with a 1:51.29. Hanson finished second in the event.<\/p>\n
The Gusties' dominated the 200 Fly, taking first with Matt Stewart's NCAA "A" cut and MIAC record 1:51.19, and placing five in the top eight.<\/p>\n
Gustavus all but wrapped up the team title when they went 1-2-3-4-6 in the 200 Fly. Erin Hickey and Yoshi Ludwig took the top two spots going 2:15.45 and 2:15.48.<\/p>\n
The Gusties' Carrie Gunderson won the 1650 Freestyle in 17:44.55. She also captured Thursday's 500 Free title.<\/p>\n
Gustavus also got a win from Christie O'Conner in the 200 Back.<\/p>\n
St. Olaf finished second. First year Alyssa Germeroth collected her second diving win of the meet with a win on the 1-meter board.<\/p>\n
Becky Alexander of Carleton won the 100 Free (52.82). Kate Alexander won the 200 Breast, added her win total to two after Thursday's first place swim in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
