THE defending Mid-American Conference champion Eastern Michigan University women&#39;s swimming and diving team sits in a three-way tie for first place with Miami University and Ohio University after the first day of competition at the 2007 MAC Women&#39;s Swimming and Diving Championships here Wednesday night at Jones Natatorium. During the 800-yard freestyle relay, EMU broke pool, MAC and Championship meet records while swimming an NCAA Consideration B time.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200-yard medley relay Miami set a MAC Championship meet record with a 1:44.11 time, breaking the old record of 1:44.14 set by Ohio in 2000. Ohio finished second with a 1:44.64 clip followed by Bowling Green State University (1:44.94), the University of Toledo (1:45.42), EMU (1:45.81), University of Akron, (1:45.86), Ball State University (1:46.36) and the University at Buffalo (1:46.39).<\/p>\n<p>In the day&#39;s final event the Eagles re-wrote the record books in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of Steph Cholyk, Hannah Burandt, Alissa Ricard and Madeleine Pilchard clocked in with a 7:21.80 time, setting a pool, MAC and Championship meet records. The time shattered the old record (7:24.59) by almost three seconds. The 7:21.80 clip is also an NCAA Consideration B time.<\/p>\n<p>Ohio finished second in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a 7:26.57 time and was followed by Toledo (7:28.88), BGSU (7:30.44), Miami (7:32.13), Akron (7:33.29), BSU (7:39.37) and Buffalo (7:44.53).<\/p>\n<p>Swimming prelims for Thursday will begin at 11 a.m. with one-meter diving prelims slated for 1 p.m. Finals for day two of the meet is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Jones Natatorium. Events for the second day of competition are 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, one-meter diving and the 400-medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>2007 MAC Championship Results After Day One (two events):<br \/>\n1.
