HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina, February 13. CHARLOTTE Catholic dominated the North Carolina 3A state meet, winning both the men's and the women's competition. <\/p>\n
Team Scores<\/b>
\nOn the women's side, Reagan took second place with 204 points and Tuscola took third place with 176 points.<\/p>\n
Southwest Guilford placed second on the men's side with 205 points and Regan took home the third-place spot with 181 points.<\/p>\n
Women's Results<\/b>
\nAnna Stringfield, a senior from Tuscola, won both the 200 IM (2:09.23) and the 500 freestyle (5:09.36). Stringfield also anchored Tuscola's 200 freestyle relay, which won in a time of 1:44.16.<\/p>\n
Charlotte Catholic grabbed the first-place honors in the 200 medley relay as well as in the 400 freestyle relay. The medley relay team comprised of sophomore Becca Clark, freshman Christen McDonough, junior Keri McAfee and senior Jessie Frederick bested R-S Central by a second finishing with a time of 1:55.94. Charlotte Catholic touched out Reagan in the 400 freestyle relay with a winning time of 3:46.55. The winning relay included junior Jordan Koletic, sophomore Lauren Curtin, junior Kathryn Turner and McAfee.<\/p>\n
Men's Results<\/b>
\nSenior Justin Eldridge from Fike won both the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle. He cruised to a first-place finish in the 200 IM (1:56.88) and edged out 200 freestyle champion Collin Thilo in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:45.54.<\/p>\n
Mason Chenier, a sophomore out of Eastern Wayne, won both sprint freestyle events. He swam a first-place time of 21.72 in the 50 freestyle and he captured the 100 freestyle title as well (47.78).<\/p>\n
The men's team champion, Charlotte Catholic, could not capture any relay titles. Southwest Guilford seized the 200 medley relay title, edging out Reagan in a time of 1:41.39. The winning quartet included senior Matt Spooner, senior Tim Mann, junior Sam Dennis and junior Michael Depasquale. That identical relay team dominated the 400 freestyle relay field, winning in a time of 3:21.66.<\/p>\n
Diving Results<\/b>
\nSenior Blythe Hogan from Williams captured the diving title with a score of 304.45. Junior Bethany Steinert from Franklin and sophomore Jessica Meidinger from Currituck took home second and third-place finishes with scores of 248.25 and 230.85, respectively.<\/p>\n
Ben Lane, a junior from Roberson, T. C., took the men's diving title with a score of 335.80. Junior Freddie Reed from Charlotte Catholic (295.50) and junior Jared Gentry from Western Alamance (285.90) took second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
