{"id":137312,"date":"2015-06-19T06:07:46","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T13:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=137312"},"modified":"2015-07-28T18:08:43","modified_gmt":"2015-07-29T01:08:43","slug":"drew-johansen-named-world-championships-team-head-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/drew-johansen-named-world-championships-team-head-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Drew Johansen Named World Championships Team Head Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>USA Diving announced today that Indiana University head diving coach <strong>Drew Johansen<\/strong> will serve as head coach for Team USA at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will take place <span data-term=\"goog_1555805347\">July 24-August 2<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Four athletes on Team USA are currently coached by Johansen, including current IU student-athletes <strong>Jessica Parratto<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Hixon. <\/strong>Parratto will compete in the platform and synchro platform events, while Hixon will represent the U.S. on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard.<\/p>\n<p>Also making the World Championships team are former IU student-athletes <strong>Amy Cozad<\/strong> and<strong>Darian Schmidt.<\/strong> Cozad will compete on the platform and partner with Parratto in the synchro platform competition. Schmidt will dive in the 3-meter springboard event.<\/p>\n<p>The four Americans are not the only divers with Hoosiers ties that will be competing at the World Championships. <strong>James Connor<\/strong>, who enters his sophomore year as the reigning Big Ten champion on the 3-meter and platform, will represent his native Australia at the meet, while former Hoosiers diver <strong>Emad Abdelatif<\/strong> will dive for Egypt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USA Diving announced today that Indiana University head diving coach Drew Johansen will serve as head coach for Team USA at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.
