BALTIMORE, Maryland, February 8. THE Rider University men's team and Marist College's women's team each are leading after day one of the 2007 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships held at Loyola College's Mangione Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n
Rider's men's team earned 185.5 points on day one, just ahead of Marist's second place 185 points. Loyola finished in third place with 161.50 points, followed by fourth place Iona with 122 points. Niagara earned a fifth place finish with 92 points, followed by Saint Peter's (77 Points), Fairfield (58 Points) and Canisius (56 Points).<\/p>\n
The women from Marist led all teams with 209 points. Rider finished the day in second place with a team score of 184 points, followed by Loyola with 166 points. Iona earned a fourth place finish with 91 points, while Fairfield's 87 points earned them a fifth place finish. Rounding out the women's scores were sixth place Niagara with 75 points, seventh place Siena (70 points), eighth place Manhattan (49 points), ninth place Canisius (42 points) and tenth place Saint Peter's (28 points).<\/p>\n
Marist's Jamie Falco set a new MAAC record in the 200 Yard IM. Falco finished the event with a time of 2:04.24, defeating the previous record of 2:05.02 set at last season's championship meet by Rider's Priscilla Modrov. Marist's women's 400 Yard Medley Relay team of Falco, Lauren Malski, Sandra Bujalski and Kim Koehler set a new MAAC and pool record with a 3:50.96 finish in the event, defeating the previous record set a last season's meet by Marist's team of Falco, Malaski, Bujalski and J. Fountaine.<\/p>\n
