Maria Romanjuk continued to sizzle on day three at the 2015 Estonia Nationals. On the first two days of the meet, she won three events and neared a few Estonian national records. Although failing to get the records, Romanjuk nevertheless stood out against her competition. On the final day of the meet, she faced three more events: 200-meter breast, 400-meter IM, and 50-meter fly. She would end the day with two more victories under her belt.<\/p>\n
Romanjuk extended her streak by winning the women\u2019s 200-meter breast in 2:36.19. Maria Harutjunjan finished second to Romanjuk again with a 2:41.79. Karleen Kersa ended up third in 2:42.91.<\/p>\n
Romanjuk didn\u2019t stop there. Later, she conquered the women\u2019s 400-meter IM in a 5:10.49 victory. Margaret Markvardt silvered with a 5:13.50, and Katrin Zaisteva earned bronze with a 5:19.41.<\/p>\n
Markvardt set a new 16&U Estonian national record in the women\u2019s 50-meter fly with her winning time of 28.26. Tess Grossman was a close second at 28.45, while Romanjuk cooled off and fell to third at 28.51.<\/p>\n
Meribel Saar was able to win the women\u2019s 400-meter free with a 4:47.67. Anette Hallik, who hung with Saar for the first 150 meters, fell to second with her 4:51.23. Laurika Lint took third in 4:51.82.<\/p>\n
Kregor Zirk continued his hot swimming with a 4:09.97 victory in the men\u2019s 400-meter free. He finished ahead of Frank Johan Ojarand, who swam a 4:12.71. Vladisav Sumedov wound up third in 4:14.38.<\/p>\n
Zirk just missed out on the men\u2019s 50-meter fly national record when he won the event with a 24.68. The record, held by Ralf Tribuntsov, currently stands at 24.25. Daniel Zaitsev added from his entry time of 24.39 to get second in 24.89. Martin Allikvee placed third with a 24.93.<\/p>\n
Martin Allikvee coasted to a 2:20.01 win in the men\u2019s 200-meter breast, finishing ahead of Estonian national record-holder Martin Livamaegi (2:23.12). Livamaegi touched out Martti Aljand, who finished with a 2:23.68.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s 200-meter back, Sigrid Sepp won in wire-to-wire fashion with a final time of 2:23.91. Veronika Olem took second in 2:27.90, and Katarina Maell made the podium with a 2:31.41.<\/p>\n
It took a huge comeback for Andres Olvik to win the men\u2019s 200-meter back. He chased down Karl Johann Luht, who was two seconds ahead of Olvik at the 100-meter mark, to win in 2:08.33. Luht fell to second place with a 2:09.90. Andrei Gussev posted a 2:10.43 to get third.<\/p>\n
Tess Grossman (58.09) and Kertu Ly Alnek (59.50) were the only swimmers to hit the sub-minute mark in the women\u2019s 100-meter free and finished first and second, respectively. Antia Stepanenko just missed breaking a minute, getting third in 1:00.10.<\/p>\n
Pjotr Degtjarjov squeaked out a win ahead of Kregor Zirk with a winning time of 51.49. Zirk swam a 52.06, while Andri Aedma clocked a 52.41 to get third.<\/p>\n
Frank Johan Ojarand used the breaststroke leg of the men\u2019s 400-meter IM to overwhelm second-place finisher Kregor Zirk. Ojarand (4:39.23) trailed Zirk (4:41.30) by a second after the back, but stormed ahead on the third 100. Silver Hein rounded out the top three and closed the meet with a 4:45.55.<\/p>\n
