{"id":136570,"date":"2015-06-15T14:24:49","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T21:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=136570"},"modified":"2015-06-15T14:24:49","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T21:24:49","slug":"ben-gill-named-head-coach-at-loras-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ben-gill-named-head-coach-at-loras-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Ben Gill Named Head Coach at Loras College"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ben Gill has been named the next head men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming and diving coach at Loras College,\u00a0Director of Athletics <dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/duhawks.com\/staff.aspx?staff=4&amp;elinkdata=20803\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"4\">Denise Udelhofen<\/a><\/dfn> announced <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1579083819\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We feel that Ben will be a great fit at Loras College,&#8221; Director of Athletics <dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/duhawks.com\/staff.aspx?staff=4&amp;elinkdata=20803\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"4\">Denise Udelhofen<\/a><\/dfn> said. &#8220;Ben brings with him a wide range of experience and has proven to be successful in the swimming arena. We&#8217;re confident that under Ben&#8217;s direction, our swimming and diving programs will be taken to the next level.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gill comes to Loras from La Crosse, Wisconsin where he has been the Head Coach at the La Crosse Area Family YMCA. Six of Gill&#8217;s athletes have qualified for YMCA Nationals under his direction since June of 2014. At the YMCA State Meet, Gill&#8217;s squad placed third and was home to multiple state champions.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to his time in La Crosse, Gill spent two years in St. Cloud, Minnesota as a graduate assistant at St. Cloud State University. As a part of the coaching staff, St. Cloud claimed nine Division II All-Americans as well as claiming back-to-back NSIC Conference Championships on the women&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n<p>Gill&#8217;s coaching history includes stops at the St. Cloud YMCA in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the Fox Cities YMCA in Appleton, Wisconsin, Stanford University, and St. Benedict&#8217;s College, totaling more than eight years of coaching experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am very honored and excited at the opportunity to lead the Loras Swimming and Diving Team,&#8221; Gill said. &#8220;I look forward to joining the athletic department at Loras College which has a strong tradition of academic and athletic success. The team is on the verge of taking the next step and I look forward to being a part of this exciting time in Duhawk Swimming and Diving.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A 2007 graduate of St. Cloud State University, Gill earned his degree in english.
