Maria Romanjuk is taking the 2015 Estonian Nationals by storm. On the opening day of the meet, she captured gold in the women\u2019s 50-meter breast with a 32.23. Today, she faced the 200-meter IM and 100-meter breast with potential to flirt with some national records.<\/p>\n
In her first event, Romanjuk blew away the women\u2019s 200-meter IM with a solid 2:21.49. Romanjuk was only about two seconds off of Anna-Liisa P\u00f6ld\u2019s national record time of 2:19.46. Maria Harutjunjan was a distant second in 2:27.07, and Margaret Markvardt came in third with a 2:28.05.<\/p>\n
She won by a tighter margin in the women\u2019s 100-meter breast. Her 1:11.19 was enough to take down Harutjunjan (1:12.4) in the second consecutive race. Karleen Kersa wound up third with a 1:13.50.<\/p>\n
Kregor Zirk, 16, topped the men\u2019s 100-meter fly with a 55.33. He touched just ahead of Daniel Zaitsev, who clocked a 55.79. Martin Livamaegi finished third in 56.11.<\/p>\n
Zirk also won the men\u2019s 200-meter free in convincing fashion in 1:54.56. He bested Pjotr Degtjarjov, who swam a 1:56.34 to get second. Cevin Anders Siim ended up third with a 1:57.64.<\/p>\n
Zirk made it three-for-three today with his win in the men\u2019s 200-meter fly, beating Arkadi Kalinovski (2:09.71) with a 2:08.90. Zaitsev fell to third in 2:13.78.<\/p>\n
Margaret Markvardt won the women\u2019s 100-meter fly in 1:03.60, and in doing so set a new Estonian age group record for 15-16 year olds. Gerda Pak swam a 1:04.20 to get second, and Katrin Zaitseva placed third in 1:05.21.<\/p>\n
Martin Allivkee outlasted the competition in the men\u2019s 100-meter breast, touching the wall first at 1:03.01. Livamaegi finished behind in second place at a 1:04.21. It took Martti Aljand a 1:05.50 to place third.<\/p>\n
Livamaegi, the Estonian national record holder in the men\u2019s 200-meter IM, won the 200 IM despite being well off his record time of 1:59.95. His 2:05.96, however, was more than enough to take first in the event. Frank Johan Ojarand came in second with a 2:08.18, and Vladisav Sumedov posted a 2:10.92 to get third.<\/p>\n
Gerda Pak was virtually uncontested in the women\u2019s 200-meter fly, winning with ease in 2:21.28. Katrin Zaitseva trailed to second in 2:32.13, just ahead of Kirke Pollisinski\u2019s 2:32.37.<\/p>\n
Sigrid Sepp won the women\u2019s 50-meter back in 30.01, slightly off of her 29.42 national record time. Markvardt found herself in the top three again, finishing second in 30.26. Moonika Lipard fell to third in 31.46.<\/p>\n
Kertu Ly Alnek cruised to a 2:08.50 victory in the women\u2019s 200-meter free, finishing ahead of Anita Stepanenko (2:10.19) and Tess Grossman (2:10.21). Grossman led at the 100-meter mark going out in a 1:01.90, but fell behind Alnek and Stepanenko on the final 100.<\/p>\n
Estonian Nationals continue through June 16.<\/p>\n
