{"id":136373,"date":"2015-06-14T09:33:50","date_gmt":"2015-06-14T16:33:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=136373"},"modified":"2015-06-14T09:33:50","modified_gmt":"2015-06-14T16:33:50","slug":"sarah-sjostrom-shuts-door-on-sette-colli-with-5-golds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-sjostrom-shuts-door-on-sette-colli-with-5-golds\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarah Sjostrom Shuts Door on Sette Colli With 5 Golds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> closed shop on an incredible Setti Colli Trophy Meet in Rome with her fourth and fifth titles after turning in some phenomenal swims on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-sjostrom-scares-world-record-in-100-fly\/\" target=\"_blank\">day one<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-sjostrom-runs-title-tally-to-3-in-sette-colli-trophy-meet\/\" target=\"_blank\">two<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom captured her fourth title of the competition with a meet-record time in the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly. Sjostrom popped a time of 25.23 to clear <strong>Inge Dekker&#8217;s<\/strong> 2014 mark of 25.50. \u00a0Sjostrom&#8217;s swim fell short of her season-best top-ranked 24.69 from the Eindhoven Swim Cup, but was plenty enough to win tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Dekker, meanwhile, picked up second-place honors in a time of 25.68 to improve on her third-ranked season best of 25.72. <strong>\u00a0Elena Gemo<\/strong> wound up third in 26.04 to move into ninth in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom won her fifth title with a meet-record effort of 1:55.05 in the women&#8217;s 200-meter free. \u00a0That&#8217;s just a bit off her second-ranked 1:54.77 from the Bergen Swim Festival, but was enough to lower Camille Muffat&#8217;s meet-mark of 1:56.01.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Federica Pellegrini<\/strong> finished second in the finale with a time of 1:56.06 to move to fifth in the world, while <strong>Alice Mizzau<\/strong> claimed third in 1:59.52.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Boglarka Kapas<\/strong> claimed the women&#8217;s 800-meter free title in 8:23.71, moving to fifth in the world rankings with the swim. \u00a0Italy&#8217;s <strong>Erica Musso<\/strong> (8:28.70) and <strong>Diletta Carli<\/strong> (8:30.44) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Luca Mencarini<\/strong>\u00a0topped\u00a0the men&#8217;s 200-meter back in 1:57.83 with <strong>Christopher Ciccarese<\/strong> placing second in 1:58.27. \u00a0<strong>Peter Bernek<\/strong> snatched third in 1:58.56.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Margherita Panziera<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 200-meter back in 2:10.93 with Scotland&#8217;s <strong>Kathleen Dawson<\/strong> earning second in 2:12.78. \u00a0Italy&#8217;s <strong>Carlotta Zofkova<\/strong> placed third in 2:13.95.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s <strong>Andrey Govorov<\/strong> touched in 23.44 to win the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly, just off his fourth-ranked 23.37 from the Danish Open. \u00a0<strong>Piero Codia<\/strong> earned second in 23.55 with Belgium&#8217;s <strong>Francois Heersbrandt<\/strong> taking third in 23.72.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giedrius Titenis<\/strong> edged <strong>Luca Pizzini<\/strong>, 2:10.32 to 2:10.79, for the men&#8217;s 200-meter breast title. \u00a0<strong>Flavio Bizzarri<\/strong> finished third in 2:11.02.<\/p>\n<p>Turkey&#8217;s <strong>Victoria Zeynep Gunes<\/strong> raced her way to a 2:24.18 to win the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast. \u00a0That&#8217;s a bit short of her seventh-ranked season best of 2:23.47 from Spanish Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Martha McCabe<\/strong> took second in 2:25.15 with <strong>Ilaria Scarcella<\/strong> placing third in 2:25.52.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Mehdy Metella<\/strong> took home the men&#8217;s 100-meter free crown in 48.60, while The Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Sebastiaan Verschuren<\/strong> placed second in 48.89. \u00a0Japan&#8217;s <strong>Shinri Shioura<\/strong> took third overall in 49.59.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gregorio Paltrinieri<\/strong>, the top-ranked 1500 free swimming in the world with a 14:43.87 from Italian Nationals, cruised to victory in 15:00.60 in Rome. \u00a0<strong>Damien Joly<\/strong> finished second in 15:03.57 with <strong>Gergely Gyurta<\/strong> placing third in 15:07.18.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Henrique Rodrigues<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM in 1:59.50, while <strong>Simon Sjodin<\/strong> took second in 2:01.02. \u00a0<strong>Davide Cova<\/strong> snared third in 2:01.16.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> powered her way to a 2:12.65 to win the women&#8217;s 200-meter IM. \u00a0<strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> (2:13.86) and <strong>Stina
