PHOENIX, Arizona, February 3. THIS past week, the world of swimming kept the SwimmingWorldMagazine.com staffers incredibly busy with a week stocked with action both domestically and across the globe as evidenced by our very active World Channel and College Channels.<\/p>\n

Additionally, senior writer John Lohn checked in with a strong premium commentary piece on Shane Gould's recent calls for an age limit at the Olympics. Lohn also commented on some of the recently announced program cuts in the American collegiate ranks.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Phil Whitten, Executive Director of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, checked in during an interview with managing editor Jason Marsteller as he updated the world on the Ohio University sport cuts in the brutally open and honest fashion we have all come to love from Dr. Whitten.<\/p>\n

Publisher\/CEO Brent Rutemiller kept busy with a pair of Swimming World Radio interviews with our latest College Swimmers of the Week, after delivering the unfortunate news that USA Swimming's Executive Director Chuck Wielgus is fighting a battle with colon cancer. Our thoughts and prayers at Swimming World Magazine<\/i> go out to Wielgus as he continues his battle.<\/p>\n

On a positive note, Dennis Baker joined "A Day in the Life" as the first Masters swimmers to take part. He did an incredible job with his daily blog.<\/p>\n
