{"id":135771,"date":"2015-06-08T10:05:42","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T17:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=135771"},"modified":"2015-06-08T10:07:15","modified_gmt":"2015-06-08T17:07:15","slug":"fina-womens-water-polo-world-league-super-final-set-to-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-womens-water-polo-world-league-super-final-set-to-begin\/","title":{"rendered":"FINA Women&#8217;s Water Polo World League Super Final Set to Begin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shanghai, China, will be the host of the upcoming FINA Women&#8217;s Water Polo World League Super Final taking\u00a0place from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1891705134\"><span class=\"aQJ\">June 9-14, 2015<\/span><\/span>, in the famous Natatorium &#8211; Oriental Sports Centre, host of the 2011 FINA World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The eight world&#8217;s best women&#8217;s teams from the Americas, Asia, Australia and Europe will be competing for the World League title after a long and tough qualification process which started in Autumn 2014 with the European preliminaries and the Intercontinental tournament in Auckland (NZL) in April 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Four daily games will be played during the six-day annual event and the groups&#8217; composition is as follows:<\/p>\n<p><b>Group A:<\/b> Australia, China, Italy, Russia<br \/>\n<b>Group B:<\/b> Brazil, Canada, Netherlands, USA<\/p>\n<p>The full competition schedule is available\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fina.org\/H2O\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=5198&amp;Itemid=1960\">here<\/a>. Teams will play each opponent in their respective group over the first three days of competition. The winners of these games will determine who plays when during the final three days of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The USA claimed victory at the 2014 edition of the Women&#8217;s World League Super Final in Kunshan (CHN)\u00a0 by defeating Italy, who placed second ahead of Australia. The Noth-American squad has been on the podium of the World League since 2006 and won the latest Intercontinental tournament in Auckland as well as the 2012 Olympic Games in London.<\/p>\n<p>In Shanghai, the current champions will face some serious challengers such as China, Russia, Australia and the Netherlands.\u00a0China is currently right behind USA in the world rankings, with Australia not too far behind after that.<\/p>\n<p><em>The above article is a press release submitted to Swimming World.
