{"id":135756,"date":"2015-06-08T07:55:44","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T14:55:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=135756"},"modified":"2015-06-08T08:20:56","modified_gmt":"2015-06-08T15:20:56","slug":"franklin-marshall-adds-eickelberg-to-coaching-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/franklin-marshall-adds-eickelberg-to-coaching-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Franklin &#038; Marshall Adds Tom Eickelberg to Coaching Staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Franklin &amp; Marshall\u2019s head swimming coach <strong>Ben Delia<\/strong> announced the hiring of <strong>Tom Eickelberg<\/strong> as the program\u2019s next assistant coach and aquatics director.<\/p>\n<p>Eickelberg joins the staff after serving as the graduate assistant swimming coach at SUNY Cortland since 2012, where he earned his master\u2019s degree in outdoor and environmental education this year.<\/p>\n<p>Eickelberg graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree in education from Adelphi University in 2011, where he was a three-sport student-athlete throughout his career. He competed on the cross country and outdoor track teams in addition to being a member of the men\u2019s swimming team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very excited to welcome Tom to our swimming program at F&amp;M,\u201d said Delia. He has enjoyed much success with Cortland over the last three seasons, and those experiences have prepared him well to help guide our swimmers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a collegiate swimmer at Adelphi, Eickelberg earned All-Metropolitan Conference honors 14 times and graduated as a school record holder in six different events. He still excels athletically, competing as a professional triathlete with a top-100 world ranking in the Ironman 70.3 professional standings in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Eickelberg succeeds <strong>Eliot Scymanski<\/strong> &#8217;12, who served in the same position since his graduation and leaves F&amp;M to join the coaching staff at Dartmouth College.<\/p>\n<p>The Franklin &amp; Marshall men finished third at the Centennial Conference meet last year, while the women placed second claiming 12 events.<\/p>\n<p>The women sent one swimmer to the NCAA Championship in Shenandoah, Texas. Freshman <strong>Bridget Dromerick<\/strong> competed in the 200 and 500 freestyles, as well as the 200 backstroke.
