Schooling, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-division-i-mens-championships-joseph-schooling-now-3rd-all-time-with-200-fly-triumph\/\" target=\"_blank\">fresh off an amazing freshman year at the University of Texas<\/a>, clocked a 48.58 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>That swim cleared <strong>Zheng Wen Quah&#8217;s<\/strong> Singapore record of 49.89 from the Singapore Age Group Championships in March, and beat Indonesia&#8217;s <strong>Triady Fauzi Sidiq&#8217;s<\/strong> Games record of 49.99 from 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Quah took second in the finale with a 49.91, while Vietnam&#8217;s <strong>Quy Phuoc Hoang<\/strong> placed third in 50.60.<\/p>\n<p>Schooling also led Singapore to a huge time drop in the country&#8217;s national record in the men&#8217;s 800-meter free relay with a Singapore record in the 200-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Schooling (1:47.79), <strong>Kai Quan Yeo<\/strong> (1:50.45), <strong>Shen Jun Pang<\/strong> (1:51.33) and Quah (1:48.57) collected to posted a time of 7:18.14. \u00a0That swim not only demolished the Games record of 7:26.67 from 2013 set by Singapore, but also decimated the Singapore record of 7:25.46 set at the 2014 Asian Games.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Schooling&#8217;s\u00a0200 free downed Quah&#8217;s Singapore record of 1:49.17 in the 200-meter free set yesterday at the SEA Games.<\/p>\n<p>This type of dramatic drop in the relay national record is evidence of just how quick <strong>Sergio Lopez<\/strong> is working as the new national head coach in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez, who made the Bolles School into a national high school and club powerhouse in the U.S., has Singapore on track to becoming one of the elite swimming nations.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam&#8217;s <strong>Vien Nguyen<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/vien-nguyen-doubles-with-vietnamese-record-at-southeast-asian-games\/\" target=\"_blank\">who is swimming in every event this week<\/a>, won her third gold with a Games-record 2:14.12 in the women&#8217;s 200-meter back. \u00a0That swim beat her previous record of 2:14.80 from 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia&#8217;s <strong>Yessy Venesia Yosaputra<\/strong> took second in 2:17.17 with Philippines&#8217; <strong>Roxanne Ashley Yu<\/strong> earning third in 2:18.45.<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen doubled up tonight with a Games-record 2:13.53 in the women&#8217;s 200-meter IM, giving her four golds in five events thus far. \u00a0She blasted the previous record of 2:14.57 set by <strong>Yi Ting Siow<\/strong> in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Thailand&#8217;s <strong>Phiangkhwan Pawapotako<\/strong> took second in 2:18.56 with Singapore&#8217;s <strong>Samantha Louisa Ginn Yeo<\/strong> earning third in 2:18.77.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore&#8217;s <strong>Li Tao<\/strong> lowered her Games mark in the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly with a 26.58. \u00a0That swim cleared her own 26.59 from 2011 by the slimmest of margins. \u00a0Teammate <strong>Ting Wen Quah<\/strong> touched second in 27.02 with Philippines&#8217; <strong>Jasmine Alkhaldi<\/strong> earning third in 27.47.<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen managed to placed fourth in the event in 27.67, lowering her Vietnamese record of 28.10 from the 2014 Vietnam Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia&#8217;s <strong>Fu Kang Wong<\/strong> claimed the men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke title in 1:02.46. \u00a0Thailand&#8217;s <strong>Radomyos Matjiur<\/strong> (1:02.63) and Philippines&#8217; <strong>Joshua Hall<\/strong> (1:02.87) also cleared 1:03 to round out the podium.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2015-southeast-asian-games-day-two-day-2\/international-elite\/2015\/June\/6\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Southeast Asian Games, Day Two &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Singapore&#8217;s Joseph Schooling lead his country to a historic night during the second evening of competition at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.
