Margo Geer opened day two of the Southwest Classic with a bang. One night after the distance swims, a handful of top talents including Geer took to the pool in Tucson for the first time this weekend.<\/p>\n
Geer, unsurprisingly, took the women\u2019s 100-meter free with a 54.32. Paige Kremer finished second with a 56.78, while Sarah Shimomura wound up third with a 58.29.<\/p>\n
Darian Townsend blasted a 50.87 to beat Matt Grevers (51.49) in the men\u2019s 100-meter free. Brad Tandy posted a 52.07 to place third in the event.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s 200-meter fly, Sophie Krivokapic-Zhou won with a 2:17.30. She jumped out to an early lead on the first 50 meters and never looked back. Jessie Gibson was a close second with a 2:18.87. Megan Dalke swam a 2:22.20 to get third.<\/p>\n
Michael Messner (2:06.57) touched out Colin Gilbert (2:06.59) to win the men\u2019s 200-meter fly. Gilbert led by over a second at the halfway point, but failed to hold on to the lead. Aidan Burns took third in 2:07.46.<\/p>\n
Cameron McHugh of Tucson Ford won the women\u2019s 200-meter back in 2:17.29. Bonnie Brandon (2:19.13) and Krivokapic-Zhou (2:20.98) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
Eric Ress busted out a 2:04.20 too take the crown in the men\u2019s 200-meter back. Josh Zakala couldn\u2019t hang with Ress and fell to second in 2:06.56. Matt Lujan trailed to third place in 2:11.36.<\/p>\n
Molly Gowans, one night after winning the 800-meter free, dominated the women\u2019s 400-meter free in 4:17.78. Bonnie Brandon swam a 4:26.04 to get second, while Claire Lockridge took bronze with a 4:26.30.<\/p>\n
The future Georgia Bulldog Aidan Burns won the men\u2019s 400-meter free in 4:02.64. He finished ahead of the future Minnesota Gopher Messner, who swam a 4:04.59. Michael Nunan posted a 4:07.15 to get third.<\/p>\n
