WITH just two weekends left in the SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Meet of the Week program, we have three exciting meets on tap for this weekend.  In Division I, we will feature the ever-popular Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet held Feb. 3-4 in Princeton, N.J.  Meanwhile, Division II offers a top-10 clash between No. 10\/11 Ashland and No. 4\/3 Wayne State in Detroit, Mich on Feb. 2.  Our final match-up will be No. 5\/11 Rowan at Kutztown in Division III on Feb. 3.<\/p>\n<p>Next week, we will feature the Stanford\/California Pac-10 brawl on Feb. 10 to close out the inaugural run of the Meet of the Week program.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a quick preview of the Ashland\/Wayne State match-up:<\/p>\n<p><b>Date and Time:<\/b> Friday, February 2, 2007 \u2013 6 p.m.<br \/>\n<b>Location:<\/b> Detroit, Mich.<br \/>\n<b>Facility:<\/b> Matthaei Center<br \/>\n<b>Collegeswimming.com Rankings:<\/b><br \/>\nMen:<br \/>\nAshland: 10<br \/>\nWayne State: 4<\/p>\n<p>Women:<br \/>\nAshland: 11<br \/>\nWayne State: 3<\/p>\n<p><b>Ashland&#39;s Last Time Out:<\/b><br \/>\nLast weekend, Ashland swept Gannon and Hillsdale on senior night at the Sports Sciences Center as the AU men beat Gannon, 147-108, and the women downed Gannon, 155-117, and Hillsdale, 165-107.<\/p>\n<p>For the men, Sean McGraw won the 200 free (1:46.99) and 100 free (48.13). Omar Fatallah placed first in the 200 fly (1:57.99) and 100 fly (51.90). Oscar Thomasson touched first in the 200 back (1:59.87) and 100 back (54.27). McGraw and Fathallah also were part of the first-place 400 medley relay (3:36.22). AU also had first-place efforts from Jesper Madsen in the 200 breast (2:09.68) and Todd Polak in the 500 free (4:50.86).<\/p>\n<p>Senior Megan Dort had an outstanding day for the AU women. She placed first in the 100 breast (1:08.68) and 200 breast (2:30.46). Finally, Dort was part of the first-place 400 medley (4:08.42).<\/p>\n<p>Jenny Johnsson led the field in the 200 free (1:58.83) and 200 back (2:10.71) and Ashley Shupe was the leader in the 100 free (54.51). Shupe was also part of the victorious 400 medley. Lizzy Wermer also won the 200 fly (2:13.81).<\/p>\n<p><b>Looking forward with Ashland head coach Paul Graham:<\/b><br \/>\n<i>We are excited to have the opportunity to swim against Wayne State University in our last meet before the GLIAC Championships.  Swimming the defending GLIAC champions will provide a very intense atmosphere, and will help our huge freshmen class prepare for the conference meet. I have always respected the great job of coaching by Sean and his staff!  His program is a great measuring stick for all the GLIAC schools.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Wayne State&#39;s Last Time Out:<\/b><br \/>\nWayne State&#39;s men&#39;s and women&#39;s teams were swept by Division I host Eastern Michigan on Jan. 19.  The men took a 142-93 loss, while the women fell 137-96.<\/p>\n<p>For the men, freshman diver Cayce Bolt qualified for nationals on both the three-meter (329.55) and one-meter (295.73) boards, while Chris Totten also made the cut in the one-meter competition (280.57) as did Dan Fleming in the three-meter (297.38).<\/p>\n<p>Wayne State took first place in two relays at EMU, with the quartet of Cauli Bedran, Christer Tour, Bruno Blanco and Tiago Oliveira finishing in a time of 1:32.95 in the 200 medley relay. The Warriors also won the 200 free relay with Oliveira, Bedran, Luiz Pacheco and Blanco. Oliveira&#39;s leadoff time of 21.24 also earned him a B cut.  Meanwhile, Oliveira took second in the 100 free (46.73) to clock a B-cut himself.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#39;s side, freshman Elaina Hogle bested her school record in the 200 IM, turning in a first-place time of 2:08.29. Hogle also finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.27). Ashley St. Andrew won two events, the 1000 free (10:33.48) and the 500 free (5:07.60).<\/p>\n<p><b>Looking forward with Wayne State head coach Sean Peters:<\/b><br \/>\n<i> I always look forward to swimming Ashland.  Coach Graham and I go back to our days as assistant coaches (Paul coached at Wright State, and I with Oakland) and I have a great deal of respect for him.  He has worked really extremely hard to bring Ashland University to the level it is now, and there should be many fast swims this weekend.
