The facility is slated for construction in the north end of Budapest, the capital of the Central\u00a0European nation.<\/p>\n<p>As reported earlier by Swimming World <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/guadalajara-withdraws-hosting-2017-fina-world-championships\/\">back in February<\/a>, Guadalajara, the original hosts of the 2017 Championships, dropped out\u00a0of hosting the event due to high costs which they blamed on FINA. Looking for a new host, in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-officially-signs-worlds-hosting-deal-with-budapest\/\">April<\/a>\u00a0FINA officially signed\u00a0a hosting deal with Hungary, giving the country the 2017 Championships. Hungary was originally slated to host the\u00a02021 World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>While the cost of hosting one of aquatics premier events will come with a hefty price tag, <em>Hungary Today<\/em>\u00a0notes that the event\u00a0will help to boost the nation&#8217;s image abroad. The periodical projects this\u00a0to be the largest sporting event Hungary has ever hosted, with roughly 5 billion viewers from around the globe expected to tune in to the 2017 Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary has a strong tradition in swimming on the international stage, including being home to Olympic\u00a0legend <strong>Krisztina Egerszegi<\/strong>, one of only three swimmers to three-peat an event on the Olympic stage.
