CLEVELAND, Ohio, January 27. SENIOR Chris Dalman set the school record in the three-meter dive and Cleveland State won 10 of 13 events and established four new top times\/scores to defeat defending MAC champion Miami (OH), 147-96, on Senior Day Saturday at the Busbey Natatorium. The Vikings are now 10-3 on the season.<\/p>\n
Dalman, who set the school record in the one-meter dive last year (415.50), set the record with a mark of 405.15, topping Thatcher Carr's mark of 389.40 from a year ago. Dalman also won the one-meter with a season-best score of 370.65.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Marko Milenkovic led the Viking swimmers by winning the 100 free with a team top time of 46.00 and the 200 free (1:41.69) and he also swam the first leg on the winning 400 free relay team. Fellow sophomore Nedim Nisic also had a hand in three wins, taking first in the 200 fly (1:53.02) and swimming in both winning relays.<\/p>\n
Junior Johan Norling won the 50 free (21.58) while freshman Stephen Grove finished second (21.82). Both swimmers also competed in winning relays.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Stef Potgieter posted a team top time in the 200 breast (2:03.80) while freshman Jakub Dobies clocked a 2:08.77 to place second.<\/p>\n
Cleveland State finished both first and second in four events (200 free, 200 IM, 200 fly and 200 breast).<\/p>\n
The Vikings jumped out to an early lead by winning the 400 medley relay (3:26.52) and extended the lead after almost every event. After Norling's win in the 20 free put CSU ahead 41-33, the 200 IM trio of Duecker, Dobies and Potgieter put the Vikings up, 56-37, heading into the one-meter dive.<\/p>\n
Dalman, Nisic and Milenkovic won the next three events in order to extend CSU's lead to 97-53. CSU extended the lead in each of the final two events (200 breast and 400 free relay) to win by the final 51-point margin.<\/p>\n
The Vikings' three seniors, Joe Badziong, Chris Dalman and Bjorn Schantz, were honored in a senior day ceremony prior to the meet.<\/p>\n
