In this episode of the Morning Swim Show, Bob Bowman<\/strong> talks with Misty Hyman<\/strong> about her role as Senior Assistant for Arizona State University\u2019s Men and Women\u2019s swim program.<\/p>\n

Hyman won a stunning upset victory at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games when she came from behind to break the American record and win the 200-meter butterfly. She is a former American and national high school recorder holder who has earned the respect from all levels of the sport.<\/p>\n

Hyman, a graduate of Stanford University who is fluent in Spanish with a Master\u2019s degree in Business Administration as the class valedictorian from Les Roches University, Switzerland, will be a huge asset to Bowman\u2019s goal to rebuild ASU\u2019s program. She will continue to work with her existing clients as an instructor and teacher during her off season and spare time.<\/p>\n

Hyman, known for her classy approach and stellar reputation on a world-class level, often said the smell of coffee and chlorine are her two most favorite morning memories. With more morning practices on the way, one has to believe she will be right at home on the ASU pool deck.<\/p>\n

The last time the state of Arizona saw this much impact in terms of swimming hires was in 1988 when Charlie Keating<\/a><\/strong> hired Dennis Pursley<\/strong><\/a>, Pierre LaFontaine<\/strong><\/a>, Brent Rutemiller<\/strong><\/a>, Roric Fink<\/strong><\/a> and Olympian Melissa Belote Ripley<\/a><\/strong> to coach the successful Phoenix Swim Club. The Arizona club produced multiple Olympians, and has recently been reborn in a new facility coached by Garrett McCaffrey<\/strong> and Mike Mazuga<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
