IRVING, Texas, January 25. TEXAS swimmers dominated the Big 12 Swimmers and Divers of the Week for meets of Dec. 11 – Jan. 21, as three Texas swimmers and divers earned the award. Matt McGinnis (Texas) and Eric Sehn (Texas A&M) were awarded Swimmer and Diver of the Week for the men while Connie Brown (Texas) and Mary Yarrison (Texas) were named for the women. The student-athletes were chosen by a vote of the league's head swimming and diving coaches. <\/p>\n

\nMcGinnis collected two victories and NCAA "B" cut times at Auburn in the 100 (43.91) and 200 (1:35.64) freestyle. He also placed first at No. 9 Georgia in the 200 freestyle with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:36.69. Against No. 5 Arizona and SMU, McGinnis earned first-place honors in the 200 freestyle relay (20.36-first leg) and the 200 freestyle (1:35.97). <\/p>\n
Eric Sehn, Jr., Texas A&M, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
\nEarning recognition four of the five times for Big 12 Diving Awards this season, Sehn marked two victories for the Aggies for his one-meter (338.32) and three-meter springboard (360.97) against No. 24 LSU. Texas A&M claimed victory with a final score of 159-141. At the Canadian World Championship Trials and Winter Nationals, Sehn claimed second on the one-meter springboard with 349.10 points.<\/p>\n

\nBrown tallied six first place finishes at the last three meets. At Auburn, she swam the first leg of the 200 freestyle relay and contributed her 23.78 time. While the Longhorns were at Georgia, Brown swam two NCAA "B" cut times (100 backstroke: 54.69 and 100 butterfly: 54.57). During the last meet against Arizona and SMU, Brown won the 100 freestyle (50.19), 100 butterfly (54.33) and 100 backstroke (55.36). All three times were also NCAA "B" cut times. <\/p>\n
Mary Yarrison, Jr., Texas, Springfield, Virginia?Yarrison placed first in all six of her dives at the past three meets. At Auburn she carded 297.37 points for the one-meter and 321.89 for the three-meter, while at Georgia she bested those dives with 299.40 on the one-meter and 327.67 on the three-meter.
