DURING her fourth entry in the "A Day in the Life" series on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com, Shippensburg University senior Jill Snyder writes about the educational honor society Kappa Delta Pi, as well as her excitement for the upcoming meet against Bloomsburg.<\/p>\n
Thursday, January 18, 2007, Day 4<\/b>
\nWell since today was Thursday, I thought my day would be semi-relaxing, but oh how I was wrong!! In addition to my usual dryland, lifting, and practice, I had two two-hour meetings and lots of work to do. My first meeting was all about what to expect in professional semester and the requirements and procedures. My other meeting was actually for the educational honor society, Kappa Delta Pi, which I am involved with. <\/p>\n
Tonight was our first meeting of the semester, and as secretary I take notes during the meeting and then post them online on the Kappa Delta Pi web site. Kappa Delta Pi is an international educational society that is committed to recognizing excellence and fostering mutual cooperation, support and professional development in the field of education. As a society, we volunteer in many ways. We work at the local soup kitchen and donate to the women's shelter, hospitals, schools and churches. We also do adopt-a-highway where we are responsible for cleaning a section of the road. We also run children's programs throughout the university or even the town of Shippensburg. We hold fundraisers, as well as provide speakers\/events for our members to come and listen\/participate in. It is such a great organization and one that has taught me a lot that I plan to use in my future endeavors. <\/p>\n
My day started out with our dryland routine. Today's dryland consisted of 15 minutes of medicine balls, 15 minutes of stretch cord work, half-an-hour of physio ball work where we mainly focus on balancing and strengthening our cores, and half-an-hour of leg\/ab work. After dryland, I got in my second weekly lift, once again focusing on power lifting with reps of 10, 8 and 6. <\/p>\n
Since my one meeting coincided with my normal practice time, I had to swim during one of the rec swims. Today, our practice was much less intense than it has been in the past few weeks and more of a moderate pace focusing on good stroke technique. It was also less intense since we have a huge meet tomorrow against Bloomsburg. <\/p>\n

Since tomorrow is our meet against Bloomsburg, I will be excited to let you all know how it goes! It's my second-to-last home meet ever! Sometimes being a senior is great because you get to be the oldest and the one that people look up to, but there are so many things that I am going to miss when its over. I will especially miss the meets and my teammates. They are some of the best friends I have ever made! <\/p>\n
Ok well that's enough for today!! I still have to finish up some homework and hopefully get to bed early tonight since we have a stretch out swim at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. <\/p>\n
