SwimMAC recently decided to let executive director Brandon Drawz go as part of a significant shakeup of the leadership team at one of the largest clubs in the country.<\/p>\n

Drawz was hired by SwimMAC in August of 2012 from Mt. Hood Aquatics in Oregon<\/a>,\u00a0where he served as the executive director and coach since 2004. In this role he oversaw all aspects of the club’s financial and business operations, strategic planning, staff management, recruitment of parent volunteers and numerous other important roles.<\/p>\n

Drawz is also a member of the USAS’s Olympic Internal Operations Committee running from the end of the 2012 games through Rio in 2016. He has served as the head manager for numerous international USAS meets and competitions, serving as a manager to the 2012 Olympic Team while at their training camp in Knoxville.<\/p>\n

SwimMAC’s full release on the leadership changes:<\/em><\/p>\n

CEO David Marsh, Chief Development Officer Norris Baker and the staff leadership team are working to restructure SwimMAC Carolina\u2019s administrative team to improve the efficiency of our program and our quality of service. Most recently, Brandon Drawz was relieved of his duties as executive director. The ongoing One Lane at a Time capital campaign continues to be managed by Norris Baker. The projects funded by the campaign are being guided by experienced managers and long-time SwimMAC supporters Steve Brumm and Ben Wilhelm.<\/p>\n

Steve is the team leader for the new aquatic center at LangTree in Mooresville. He has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate and development of large mixed-use projects, and will be driving the process to ensure the design, permitting, and construction phases are completed on time and on budget. Steve has a long history with SwimMAC. His wife Mary Ann has been with the Masters program since 2006. His son Peter swam for MAC from age nine through high school graduation, and has gone on to compete for the University of Michigan where he is now a junior and an NCAA All-American.<\/p>\n

Ben also has a strong personal connection to SwimMAC. His 13-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter are members of the competitive team based at our south Charlotte training center, and his wife Karen is a former Masters swimmer who plays an active role in putting on the Arena Pro Swim Series event.<\/p>\n

Ben is partner and president of Shiel Sexton\u2019s Carolinas regional operations. Shiel Sexton has constructed numerous athletic facilities including the temporary pools for the 2004 FINA World Championships held in the Midwest and is currently renovating the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.<\/p>\n
