{"id":132691,"date":"2015-04-26T09:12:32","date_gmt":"2015-04-26T16:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=132691"},"modified":"2015-04-26T09:12:32","modified_gmt":"2015-04-26T16:12:32","slug":"sami-aaltomaa-shines-on-final-day-in-finland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sami-aaltomaa-shines-on-final-day-in-finland\/","title":{"rendered":"Sami Aaltomaa Shines on Final Day in Finland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sami Aaltomaa nearly cracked the top 20 in the world in the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast to close out the Finnish Swimming Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Aaltomaa won the finale in 27.72, just half-a-second off Eetu Karvonen&#8217;s Finnish record of 27.39. \u00a0Ari-Pekka Liukkonen took second in 28.35 with Lassi Ohtonen earning third in 28.56.<\/p>\n<p>Mimosa Jallow raced her way to victory in the women&#8217;s 50-meter back with a 28.80. \u00a0Hanna-Maria Seppala, a Finnish world champion, took second in 29.69. \u00a0Lotta Upanne placed third in 29.88.<\/p>\n<p>Finnish record-holder Jenna Laukkanen claimed the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast title in 2:29.01. \u00a0Essi-Maria Lillman placed second in 2:37.21 with Sini Koivu taking third in 2:37.58.<\/p>\n<p>Andrei Tuomola claimed the men&#8217;s 100-meter free title in 50.93 with Anton Herrala finishing second in 51.03. \u00a0Miikka Ruohoniemi wound up third in 51.92.<\/p>\n<p>Christoffer Fredrikson won the men&#8217;s 200-meter back in 2:03.10. \u00a0Sami Juopperi snared second in 2:07.88 with Heikki Luukko earning third in 2:09.60.<\/p>\n<p>Noora Laukkanen touched out Nea Norismaa, 1:01.50 to 1:01.62, for the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly crown. \u00a0Sohvi Nenonen placed third in 1:02.43.<\/p>\n<p>Tessa Nurminen hit the wall in 25.59 to win the women&#8217;s 50-meter free, while Seppala took another runner-up finish with a 25.71 for second. \u00a0Jallow, after winning the 50 back, placed third in the free with a 25.88.<\/p>\n<p>Kalle Pyykkonen captured the men&#8217;s 200-meter fly in 2:07.15, while Aleksi Schmid placed a close second in 2:07.46. \u00a0Tony Eriksson finished third in 2:08.78.<\/p>\n<p>Eetu Piiroinen topped the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free in 15:52.03 with Aleksi Eskelinen claiming second in 16:19.52. \u00a0Juho Gronblom picked up third in 16:20.81.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Lajunen, who already won the 800 and 1500 frees earlier this week, snagged the women&#8217;s 200-meter free title in 2:03.12. \u00a0Aino Otava took second in 2:03.76 with Vaula Vekkeli earning third in 2:06.45.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2015-finnish-swimming-championships-full-results\/international-elite\/2015\/April\/22\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Finnish Swimming Championships, Full Results &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sami Aaltomaa nearly cracked the top 20 in the world in the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast to close out the Finnish Swimming Championships.
