Wylas Timing\u2019s latest software release allows high-end touchpad integration, enabling users to activate a quiet period and configure timers to automatically restart for multi-lap events.<\/p>\n

The quiet period facilitates users to start a new race over the top of swimmers from the previous race while touchpads are active and clock synchronisation has been modified, improving accuracy and reducing the amount of network traffic in the wireless timing system.<\/p>\n

The recent upgrades allow swimming clubs to access an affordable high-end wireless timing system, while users with the basic system now have the ability for touchpad integration in the future.<\/p>\n

Alongside the latest release, Wylas Timing\u2019s Android apps now follow and use the Material Design theme and guidelines, and the Wylas Display app has been sanctioned as a bonafide Android TV app by the Android team.<\/p>\n

While involved with our local swimming club, we were disturbed by the outrageous prices being charged for timing and display systems that did not utilise current technologies as effectively as they could. With our expertise in the mobile and software field, we knew that cheap, reliable, off-the-shelf hardware was available. We knew we could build something absolutely world class. So we did.

Wylas Timing is a software system that co-ordinates the collection, recording and display of timing information for swimming and racing carnivals. Wylas Timing Integrates with your meet management software eliminating transcription errors. It makes running a swim meet easy and fun. Not only does Wylas Timing provide a great system, but it also offers it at an extremely low cost. You can purchase hardware for starter, 12 watches, 2 displays and router for under $2500. The system provides timing and display for the one price with an accuracy margin that is typically less than 3 milliseconds. It eliminates transcription errors and increases the efficiency of swim meets. By using reliable off-the-shelf components, local swim clubs can now finally afford to have a high quality system at an affordable price.<\/p>\n

About the product<\/h3>\n

Wylas Timing\u2122 manages the collection and disbursement of race times via:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Importation of a meet including races, entries and athlete names from meet management software.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Marshalling of a race by instructing devices to show:
\n– the details of the marshalled race.
\n– including the athletes and their lanes on the displays.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Synchronising the watches for all the devices.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Using an electronic starting pistol to start the race and automatically start a single clock for all competitors.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Displaying a running clock of elapsed time on all displays.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Allowing race completion to be recorded by one to three time keepers per lane. Each result is sent wirelessly to the recorder which records it and wirelessly notifies all devices that a result has come in.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Presenting the current race and any entries and results via the large screen displays, with displays updated as new results come in.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Allowing the recorder to edit times and\/or disqualify an athlete. Such changes are immediately propagated to all devices wirelessly.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Allowing the recorder to finalise a race and export results back to the meet management software.<\/p>\n

Wylas Timing\u2122 consists of the following components:<\/p>\n

Starter Android application<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Runs on a small Android device (like a cheap phone).<\/p>\n

\u2022 Starts the race and sends the start message to the Recorder.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Optionally receives a message (via audio channel) to start the race from an electronic starter.<\/p>\n

Recorder web server<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Runs on a machine on the local network, probably the machine used by the recorder.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Manages the receipt and transmission of the wireless messages co-ordinating the devices.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Records all timing information for one or more meets.<\/p>\n

Recorder web application<\/strong>
\nBrowser accessible web user interface that allows the recorder (person) to:
\n\u2022 import races from the meet management software<\/p>\n

\u2022 marshall a race<\/p>\n

\u2022 reset a race<\/p>\n

\u2022 edit race times<\/p>\n

\u2022 finalise a race and export results to the meet management software.<\/p>\n

Timer\/TimeKeeper Android application<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Runs on a small handheld Android device (like a cheap phone).<\/p>\n

\u2022 One to three TimeKeepers per lane. From 6 -10 lanes per venue.
\n\u2022 Runs with a minimum of 6 TimeKeepers.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Records the finish of a race by one athlete in one lane and transmits the result to the Recorder.<\/p>\n

Display Android application<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Runs on a large flat screen smart TV. Recommend at least on display.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Listens for changes to the current race and displays details of those lanes\/positions for which it has been configured.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If app has been configured to display more data than will fit on the screen, then it will scroll through additional information automatically.<\/p>\n
