MELBOURNE, Australia, January 7. DANNI Miatke and Kelly Stubbins shined in the fifth day of action at the Victorian Long Course Championships held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center. Miatke raised her gold-medal tally to five, while Stubbins pocketed a pair of triumphs.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 Freestyle<\/b>
\nDanni Miatke won her fourth gold of the meet with a quick time of 25.72, while Kelly Stubbins placed second in 26.54. Amy Cockerton closed out the top three in 26.54.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 Freestyle<\/b>
\nKelly Stubbins bounced back in the four-lap free with a gold-winning time of 2:02.48. Her closest competitor, Shayne Reese, placed second in 2:03.77, while Danni Miatke took bronze in 2:06.41.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 Backstroke<\/b>
\nKelly Stubbins made it two in a row with a time of 29.66 in the sprint back event. 15-year-old Grace Loh picked up second in 30.27, while Amy Cockerton earned her second bronze of the day with a third-place 30.50.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 Breaststroke<\/b>
\nSarah Katsoulis hit the wall in 2:31.62 for a convincing win over 13-year-old Maya Hamano of Japan (2:34.92). Meanwhile, Chelsea Carpenter placed third in 2:38.50.<\/p>\n
Women's 100 Butterfly<\/b>
\nDanni Miatke continued her top-flight effort at the meet with her fifth gold medal. This time, she clocked a first-place time of 1:00.73 in the 100 fly. Alanna Tanner finished second in 1:01.58, while 17-year-old Liu Zige of China took third in 1:02.24.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 Freestyle<\/b>
\nPatrick Murphy back-halfed the 100 free to overtake Cameron Prosser, 50.17 \u2013 50.40, in the two-lap freestyle event. Meanwhile, Michael Papaioannou finished third in 51.29.<\/p>\n
Men's 1500 Freestyle<\/b>
\n16-year-old Ian McClymont and 17-year-old Shane Asbury provided an entertaining distance free race as the two went head-to-head throughout most of the metric mile. McClymont had too much in the tank, though, as he clocked a gold-winning time of 16:39.10, while Asbury hit the wall in 16:41.38. Robert Carlson rounded out the podium in 16:58.90 for third.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 Backstroke<\/b>
\nDaniel Blackborrow snagged a one-second victory in the 200 back with a time of 2:06.11, while Mark Cooper placed second in 2:07.83. 17-year-old Thanasi Solomidis placed third in 2:09.09.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 Breaststroke<\/b>
\nLloyd Townsing won the sprint breast with a time of 30.48, while Ben Geard finished with a silver-winning time of 30.57. Joel Miller took bronze in 30.62.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 Butterfly<\/b>
