ST. LOUIS, Missouri, December 20. THE Saint Louis men's and women's swimming and diving teams gave themselves an early holiday gift as both teams claimed victories over Centenary, IUPUI and Valparaiso on Wednesday. SLU's men's squad redeemed itself with a nine-point win over Centenary, which downed the Billikens by seven points on Tuesday. The Billiken women have now won 49 straight dual meets dating back to the 2004-05 season.<\/p>\n
The Billiken women won all but four events contested on Wednesday. Elena Ramirez was the big winner for Saint Louis as she logged the top times of the day in the 50 free (24.71), 100 fly (58.81) and 100 breast (1:06.47). Her time in the 50 free was the third fastest swim in SLU history.<\/p>\n
For the second straight day, Brad Byars paced the men's squad with the most top times. He beat all three teams in the 50 free in 21.77 and followed that up with the day's top time in the 100 free (46.95). Kevin Parker and Tim Adams were the only other Billiken swimmers to record the top times in their respective events. Parker clocked a 53.04 in the 100 back, while Adams swam a 59.91 in the 100 breast. Adams' time ranks fourth in SLU annals and Parker's time ranks fifth all-time.<\/p>\n
Anna Larson stayed true to form, tallying the top point total in both diving events. She logged 237.80 points on the one-meter and 261.60 on the three-meter. Her three-meter score was the fifth best in SLU history, while teammate Erin Lasinski's 260.20 in the same event ranks sixth all-time.\t<\/p>\n
Emily Oberjohn and Lindsey Tamkun added top times in the 200 free (1:56.66) and 100 back (59.88), respectively.<\/p>\n
Centenary's men's and women's teams downed both Valparaiso and IUPUI, while IUPUI claimed victories over the Valparaiso men's and women's squads.<\/p>\n
