Manly girls Emily Doyle and Naomi Scott have given the famous sky blue caps a winning start to day two of The Aussies 2015 Australian Youth Championships by grabbing the Under 14 and Under 15 surf race double at North Kirra this morning.<\/p>\n
After a delay in the schedule yesterday, the girls were eager to compete in the finals, which had been pushed to this morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was super nervous all night thinking about the race this morning,\u201d Naomi said.<\/p>\n
Both girls had won NSW State titles and were eager to take out their first Aussie Youth Championships.<\/p>\n
Naomi set the bar high in the under 15 surf race final with a comfortable victory ahead of Kira Hood (North Cronulla) and Keeley Booth (Avoca Beach).<\/p>\n
Inspired by watching her clubmate\u2019s triumph, Emily didn\u2019t disappoint and swam clear of her under 14 rivals to make it golden double for Manly.<\/p>\n
Despite North Kirra\u2019s calm conditions, both girls said their races were tough, with the inshore gutter proving to be a challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had to dodge a few potholes in the gutter, but I\u2019m looking forward to more events this afternoon,\u201d Emily said.<\/p>\n
The Manly girls will line up for more finals this afternoon, including the board rescue, tube race and surf teams.<\/p>\n
