{"id":130686,"date":"2015-04-09T09:12:17","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T16:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=130686"},"modified":"2015-04-09T09:12:17","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T16:12:17","slug":"jacob-heidtmann-rockets-to-2nd-in-world-in-400-im-in-germany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jacob-heidtmann-rockets-to-2nd-in-world-in-400-im-in-germany\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacob Heidtmann Rockets to 2nd in World in 400 IM in Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The German National Championships started off with a bang as Jacob Heidtmann challenged for the top time in the world in the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Heidtmann captured the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM crown in 4:13.28 for second in the world rankings. \u00a0Only Kosuke Hagino has been faster with a 4:12.18 in the Tokyo City Championships. \u00a0Johannes Hintze set a German junior record with a 4:16.58 for 11th in the world. \u00a0Kevin Wedel rounded out the podium with a 4:16.63.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the evening was pretty sparse in terms of titles with night one being purely distance focused.<\/p>\n<p>Leonie Beck moved to sixth in the world in the women&#8217;s 800-meter free with an 8:27.37 for the win tonight. \u00a0Sarah Kohler placed second tonight in 8:28.23 to take seventh in the world rankings, while Patricia-Lucia Wartenberg wound up third overall in 8:42.66.<\/p>\n<p>Soren Meisner hit the wall in 15:04.93 to win the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free. \u00a0That swim pushed him to seventh in the world rankings. \u00a0Felix Aubock took second in the event with a 15:05.48 for eighth in the world, while Ruwen Straub&#8217;s third-place 15:06.01 put him 10th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Franziska Hentke topped the women&#8217;s 400-meter IM in 4:42.73, while Emily Siebrecht took second in 4:43.44. \u00a0Juliane Reinhold wound up third in 4:43.75.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2015-german-swimming-championships-day-one-day-1\/international-elite\/2015\/April\/9\" target=\"_blank\">2015 German Swimming Championships, Day One &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The German National Championships started off with a bang as Jacob Heidtmann challenged for the top time in the world in the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM.
