Mieko Nagaoka shows no sign of stopping her impressive performances in the pool, and the 100-year-old wonder from Japan made history as the oldest person to complete 1500 meters in competition last weekend.<\/p>\n

Nagaoka, who was just named as one of the World Masters Swimmers of the Year by Swimming World Magazine<\/i><\/a>, swam at a short course meters meet in Matsuyama. Swimming backstroke for the entire 1500 meters, she completed the distance in 1 hour, 15 minutes, 54.39 seconds. Since no one 100 years and older has ever completed 1500 meters in a sanctioned Masters competition, Nagaoka adds to her already impressive accolades that includes eight world records in the 100-104 age group from last year.<\/p>\n
