Femke Heemskerk remained on fire here in Eindhoven as she threw down a world-best time in the women’s 100-meter semis at the Eindhoven Swim Cup.<\/p>\n

Heemskerk, who already moved to fourth all time in the 200 free yesterday<\/a>, threw down a smoking 52.79 in the women’s 100-meter free semis. That’s the top time in the world, clearing the 53.13 set by Cate Campbell at the BHP Super Series, and made Heemskerk just the eighth swimmer to break 53 seconds. \u00a0In fact, she’s now the sixth-fastest swimmer all time.<\/p>\n

Heemskerk will have to beat a pair\u00a0of those other 52-second club members in the finale as Sjostrom (53.29) and Kromowidjojo (53.69) also made the finale.<\/p>\n

Moniek Nijhuis kicked off the night on fire with a world-best 30.65 in the women’s 50-meter breaststroke semifinals. That’s just a bit off her Dutch record of 30.38 set at the 2009 World Championships.<\/p>\n

Nijhuis returned in finals with a 30.77 for the win, while Tjasa Vozel took second in 31.43. \u00a0Jessica Eriksson wound up third in 31.87.<\/p>\n

Caba Siladji threw down a 27.26 in the men’s 50-meter breast semis to stand second in the world. \u00a0Only Adam Peaty has been faster with a 26.88 at the British University Championships. Damir Dugonjic qualified second in 27.63 with Timon Evenhuis snaring third in 27.88.<\/p>\n

Cameron van der Burgh, who was late to finals after watching the Arsenal vs. Liverpool soccer game according to his Twitter, qualified fifth in 28.06.<\/p>\n

Siladji then bettered his time with a 27.17 to tie van der Burgh for the men’s 50-meter breaststroke title. \u00a0Dugonjic touched third in 27.27 to move to fourth in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

Laszlo Cseh posted a 51.97 to win the men’s 100-meter fly and move to third in the world. \u00a0Only Konrad Czerniak (51.37) and Jack Conger (51.64) have been faster this year. \u00a0Joeri Verlinden took second in 52.63 with Mathys Goosen placed third in 53.13.<\/p>\n

In the first final of the night, Zsuzsanna Jakabos raced her way to a 2:08.13 for the win in the women’s 200-meter fly. \u00a0That’s just off her fifth-ranked season best of 2:08.07 from the City of Milan meet. \u00a0Boglarka Kapas took second in 2:08.99 to moved to 10th in the world rankings. \u00a0Anna Ntountounaki wound up third in 2:13.41.<\/p>\n

Kapas then won the women’s 400-meter free in 4:08.97 with Anja Klinar second in 4:10.68. \u00a0Gaja Natlacen placed third in 4:14.75.<\/p>\n

Sebastiaan Verschuren posted a 1:46.09 to win the men’s 200-meter free, just off his second-ranked season best of 1:46.07 set earlier in the meet. \u00a0Only Yannick Agnel has been baster than Verschuren this year with a 1:45.97. \u00a0Peter Bernek took second tonight in 1:47.72, while Kyle Stolk wound up third in 1:48.00.<\/p>\n
