FORT COLLINS, Colorado, December 8. THE Colorado State swimming and diving team closed the first semester of competition with a 212-88 victory over Northern Colorado. <\/p>\n
The Colorado State swimming and diving team improved to 6-0 in dual meet action on the season with a 212-88 victory over the University of Northern Colorado at Butler-Hancock Pool in Greeley on Friday night.<\/p>\n
The Rams won 10 of 16 events in the meet and posted the top-three finishers in seven events en route to a dominant victory over the Bears.<\/p>\n
Freshman diver Nicole Kelley and junior Tara Staley led the way for the Rams with two individual victories each. Kelley won both the 1-meter (257.60) and 3-meter (274.50) diving events, setting personal bests in both. Staley led the Rams to victories in the 100 Freestyle and 200 IM events with times of 54.19 and 2:11.42, respectively.<\/p>\n
Other individual winners for the Rams included freshman Valerie Maldonado who won the 1,000 Free (10:41.32). Senior Brette Winegarner paced the meet in the 100 Backstroke (59.18) and freshman Victoria Curtis took first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.64.<\/p>\n
Junior Karin Knudson and sophomore Annsley Lujan capped the list of individual winners for the Rams. Knudson picked up a victory in the 50 Free with a time of 24.57 while Lujan posted a 2:27.06 to finish in first place in the 200 Breaststroke.<\/p>\n
The Rams will now take a break for the remainder of December, before resuming action during the second semester with a home meet against the University of Utah Utes at Moby Pool on Jan. 18.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
