page<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Georgia\u2019s Matias Koski won the men\u2019s 1650-yard freestyle with a superior final 500 yards at the NCAA Division I Men\u2019s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Koski, who trailed Michigan freshman PJ Ransford by about half a pool with 500 yards to go, turned on the jets to win the event in 14:32.38. \u00a0That\u2019s the fifth victory for Georgia in the event\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Other Georgia wins:<\/p>\n<p><strong>2006<\/strong> Sebastien Rouault, Georgia, 14:29.43<br \/>\n<strong>2008<\/strong> Sebastien Rouault, Georgia, 14:26.86<br \/>\n<strong>2009<\/strong> Troyden Prinsloo, Georgia, 14:30.91<br \/>\n<strong>2012<\/strong> Martin Grodzki, Georgia, 14:24.08<\/p>\n<p>With the Georgia women putting up the top team finish ever without winning an individual or relay last week with a second-place effort behind California, Georgia\u2019s 20-year streak of winning a title in either the men\u2019s or women\u2019s event was in jeopardy after two days without a Georgia win.<\/p>\n<p>Koski kept that streak in tact.<\/p>\n<p>Ransford, meanwhile, went out with the 10th-fastest 1000-yard free of all time with an 8:46.40 before settling for second overall in 14:34.36. \u00a0That\u2019s a 12-second drop for the rookie.<\/p>\n<p>Ransford&#8217;s times broke 31-year-old and 32-year-old 17-18 U.S. National Age Group records of 8:48.57 and 14:38.22 set by Jeff Kostoff back in 1983 and 1984.<\/p>\n<p>Northwestern\u2019s Jordan Wilimovsky placed third overall with a 14:36.64, while Utah\u2019s Bence Kiraly snared fourth with a
