LONG BEACH, California, December 4. FOR the third year in a row, the Long Beach Grunions hosted a successful SPMA Championship Meet over the weekend of Dec. 1 \u2013 3. Led this year by first-time meet director Ken Brisbin, an impressive number of volunteers worked together to put on a three-day swim meet that ran smoothly. Overall, 432 swimmers participated, marking the meet's largest attendance to date.<\/p>\n
Many fast swimmers from all around the U.S. participated, the fast pool and elite competition resulted in 17 World and 14 National Records. The meet also drew enthusiastic participation from swimmers at every level of ability. <\/p>\n
Located right on the ocean in Long Beach, the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool provided a beautiful setting, and this year the weather cooperated with sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s. Additional perks of the meet included a raffle giveaway prize awarded to one swimmer from each event, and free massages for swimmers provided during all three days.<\/p>\n
