ATHENS, Georgia, December 2. THE Georgia's women's swimming and diving team moved into first place and the Georgia men are now second after two days of the UGA Fall Invitational being held at Gabrielsen Natatorium.<\/p>\n
Following Saturday's competition, the Lady Bulldogs have 745 points and are ahead of California, which has 705. On the men's side, Southern Cal has the lead with 640 points and the Bulldogs have 604.<\/p>\n
The invitational will conclude on Sunday with prelims at 9:30 a.m. and the finals at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
"Tonight was a great night," said Georgia head swimming coach Jack Bauerle. "The kids swam great all around. It's nice having a close meet on both sides."<\/p>\n
"Both the men and women dove solid tonight," said Georgia head diving coach Dan Laak said. "Overall, I am pleased with tonight's performances."<\/p>\n
For the Lady Bulldogs, Anna Miller placed first in the 200 free with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:46.94. Jessica Cole was fifth in the event, and she recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:48.53 in the prelims. Aleksandra Putra (sixth, 1:48.72) and Claire Maust (ninth, 1:47.47) also had B-cuts in the 200 free.<\/p>\n
Putra also had an A-cut time in the 100 back, winning with a 53.98. The victorious 800 free relay squad of Maust, Cole, Kelly McNichols, and Miller had an A-cut time of 7:09.05.<\/p>\n
The 200 medley relay of Putra, Kelly McNichols, Anne-Marie Botek and Kara Lynn Joyce finished second and recorded a B-cut of 1:41.01. In the 400 IM, Melissa Klein (fifth) and Kristen Frost (sixth) recorded B-cut times of 4:19.74 and 4:25.45 respectively. Botek had a B-cut time of 54.98 in the 100 fly, placing third. In the 100 breaststroke, McNichols (second, 1:01.90), Mhyria Miller (fourth, 1:02.94) and Klein (fifth, 1:03.38) all had B-cuts.<\/p>\n
For the Bulldogs, Sebastien Rouault touched first and second in the 400 IM and the 200 free with B-cut times of 3:47.87 and 1:37.73 respectively. Webb Worthington took first place in three-meter diving with a score of 328.90.<\/p>\n
Gil Stovall placed third in the 200 IM with a B-cut time of 1:48.65. The men's 800 freestyle relay team of Rouault, Stovall, Nathan Bibliowicz and Chris Ward placed second and recorded a B-cut time of 6:36.53.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
