For more information about Agon, visit their website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agonswim.com\">Agonswim.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>MIDDLETOWN \u2013 Greenwich (Open and Class LL), Pomperaug (Class L), Brookfield (Class M) and Weston (Class S) took home the team titles earlier this week at the Connecticut High School Boys Swimming and Diving Championships at Wesleyan University\u2019s Freeman Center in Middletown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Open Division<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greenwich completely dominated the boys&#8217; Open division, more than doubling the point total of runner-up Ridgefield with 658 points. Ridgefield recorded 311.5 points to finish in second, while Fairfield Prep edged Darien by just half a point for third, 284.5 points to 284.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of open division records went down at the meet, with Greenwich senior Thomas Dillinger kicking things off with a new division and state record in the 200 IM. Dillinger&#8217;s 1:47.22 in finals cleared Andrew Grinalds&#8217; 2009 mark of 1:48.93 by over a second and a half. Dillinger added another win in the 100 free (45.17) later in the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Dillinger&#8217;s teammate, Edward Moss, followed that up with another state and open record in the next event, the 50 free. Moss stopped the clock at 20.18 to knock Jeffrey Sudbury&#8217;s 2005 record of 20.47 out of the record books.<\/p>\n<p>In 1-meter diving, Hand-Madison sophomore Tianyi Zeng racked up 607.60 points to beat Stephen Ettiene&#8217;s 2010 open division record of 572.65 by almost 35 points. Zeng will have two more seasons to chase down Ettiene&#8217;s overall state record of 612.15 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwich kept the ball rolling in the 100 fly as junior John Montesi lowered the state and open division records with a 49.09. Berlin&#8217;s Dan Klotz had set the previous record of 49.34 two years ago. Montesi just missed out on a second record in the 100 back, as his 49.67 was just short of former classmate Alexander Lewis&#8217; open record of 49.08.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwich swept all three relays at the meet, amassing 180 total points with wins in the 200 medley relay (1:34.05), 200 free relay (1:23.38) and 400 free relay (3:01.70).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class LL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greenwich scored 836 points to dominate the meet, with Fairfield Prep finishing a distant second with 489 points and Cheshire taking third with 442 points. Greenwich senior Thomas Dillinger contributed big points to the team, winning two individual events and setting a new Class LL record in the 200 IM with a 1:49.04. Fairfield Prep\u2019s Bryce Keblish set the previous record of 1:49.46 last year. Dillinger just missed the overall state record of 1:48.93, set by Fairfield Prep\u2019s Andrew Grinalds in 2009. Later in the meet, Dillinger topped the 100 free in 45.40.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwich\u2019s Edward Moss also contributed a new Class LL record in the 50 free as he stopped the clock at 20.58 for the win. That shaved two tenths off his own record of 20.78, set last year. Greenwich kept the ball rolling in the 100 fly, with John Montesi setting a new state, open and LL record with a 48.98. Berlin\u2019s Dan Klotz had owned the previous state and open record at 49.34, which he established in 2013, while Westhill\/Stamford\u2019s Dan Madwed set the LL record of 49.80 back in 2005. Montesi also set a new open record in the 100 back, as his 48.93 cut .15 off the old record of 49.08, set by Greenwich\u2019s Alexander Lewis last year.<\/p>\n<p>Dillinger and Moss then joined Nicholas Hyden and Wyatt Semenuk to help Greenwich set a new LL record in the 200 free relay. The foursome touched in 1:23.77 to knock their school\u2019s own 1:24.19 from 2014 from the record books. Two events later, Greenwich\u2019s Iain Edmundson set a new LL record in the 100 breast at 57.05; Amity\u2019s Eric Holden had swam a 57.16 back in 2012.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class L<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pomperaug claimed the Class L state title with 876.5 points, more than 100 ahead of Darien\u2019s 754 points. New Canaan solidified third with 614.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>Darien diver Lee Christensen closed out his high school diving career in style, setting the only Class L record of the meet in the boys\u2019 1-meter diving final. Christensen racked up 527.35 points to knock Cheshire\u2019s Dan Mazzaferro (514.90) from the record books, a mark that had stood since 2006. Darien also earned multiple wins from junior Patrick Brannigan, who topped the 200 free final in 1:43.89 and the 100 free in 47.96.<\/p>\n<p>Pomperaug racked up the points in the relays, as Henry Hu, Kieran Hannigan, John Feller and John O\u2019Neill won the 200 medley relay in 1:38.13, and Riley Shaw, Frank Sinapi, Zachariah Tzepos and Brendon Hessler cruised to a 1:29.89 in the 200 free relay. Feller added a win in the 500 free (4:45.70), while Hu claimed the 100 back in 53.70 to lead Pomperaug to the team title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class M<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brookfield ran away with the Class M title, scoring 703 points to easily out-distance runner-up Notre Dame (466 points) and third place finisher Middletown (434 points).<\/p>\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Matt Dagenais broke the first Class M record of the meet in the boys\u2019 200 IM final, as his 1:49.72 chopped nearly three seconds off the previous record of 1:52.73, set by Pomperaug\u2019s Travis McNamara back in 2007. Later in the meet, Dagenais added a second record to his collection, posting a 50.24 in the 100 back to knock Fitch\u2019s Christian Berg from the record books. Berg set the previous record of 51.45 in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Hand-Madison\u2019s Tianyi Zeng established a new Class M record in 1-meter diving, as his score of 603.20 obliterated the 2007 record of 476.35, held by Darien\u2019s David McDonald. Zeng just missed the overall state record of 612.15, held by Sacred Heart\u2019s Stephen Ettiene.<\/p>\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Jack Doherty emerged with multiple individual titles, winning the 50 free in 21.10 and the 100 free in 46.03. He just missed out on the Class M records in both events, as the 50 stands at 20.82 and the 100 at 45.99.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class S<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Weston swam away with the team title in Class S, posting 683 points to finish comfortably ahead of Holy Cross (590 points) and Northwestern (507 points).<\/p>\n<p>Weston won the meet with incredible depth, as the team won only one event at the meet, the opening 200 medley relay. Sam Stewart, Charlie Palsho, Justin Summers and Daniel Solinsky combined forces to post a 1:39.53, just ahead of Sacred Heart\u2019s 1:39.88.<\/p>\n<p>Sheehan\u2019s Connor Robison emerged as a double event winner, taking first in both the 200 free (1:44.57) and 500 free (4:43.89).
