For full Swimming World coverage, check out our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2015-ncaa-womens-di-swimming-and-diving-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\">coverage\u00a0page<\/a>.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Stanford\u2019s Simone Manuel reclaimed the 100-yard freestyle American record at the NCAA Division I Women\u2019s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Manuel blasted her way to a stunning 46.09 for the win to match her victory in the 50-yard freestyle earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Her time beat Abbey Weitzeil\u2019s American record of 46.29 set as a relay leadoff for Canyons Aquatics in December, while also downing Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace\u2019s 2012 NCAA record of 46.61.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Well there goes the question of how soon a girl will go 45 from a flat start&#8230;. The third day of this race is a little tough after swimming a lot of races and I put together a good race and I was happy with the outcomes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>On squinting at the time and if she expected to see a record<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cWhen I looked over to the right I saw my team cheering. That was all I could take away from it. I don\u2019t have my glasses on so I couldn\u2019t really see the time but when I did I was pretty shocked and excited.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Manuel\u2019s teammate Lia Neal claimed second tonight in 47.13 to move to seventh all time, while Florida\u2019s Natalie Hinds picked up third in 47.19 to jump to 11th all time.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s Stanford\u2019s eighth victory in the 100 freestyle all time, but first since 1996.
