Cincinnati                          1<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 1650 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Virginia&#8217;s Leah Smith added the 1650-yard freestyle title to her win in the 500-yard free at the NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Smith uncorked a dominant time of 15:34.46 for the victory. \u00a0That&#8217;s Virginia&#8217;s third title in the mile with Cara Lane going back to back in 2000 and 2001. \u00a0Before Smith&#8217;s 500-yard free title, those had been the only NCAA titles for the female Cavaliers.<\/p>\n<p>Smith vaulted to fifth all time in the event&#8217;s history. She had been 11th all time with a 15:42.04 last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Time 1650 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>Smith won the title by exactly 12 seconds as California&#8217;s Cierra Runge finished second in 15:46.66. \u00a0Florida&#8217;s Jessica Thielmann managed to take third in 15:46.68 in what proved to be a close battle for second.<\/p>\n<p>Smith&#8217;s 12-second victory is pretty impressive, but doesn&#8217;t come close to Janet Evans&#8217; NCAA record for the largest margin of victory.<\/p>\n<p>In 1990, Evans of Stanford threw down a 15:39.14, still ranking her eighth all time, to beat Texas&#8217; Andrea Hayes (16:04.08) by 24.94 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, defending NCAA champion and NCAA record holder Cincinnati                          1<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>California&#8217;s Missy Franklin managed to capture her third individual title of the meet with a 200-yard back triumph at the NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Franklin raced her way to a 1:47.91, just missing teammate Elizabeth Pelton&#8217;s NCAA and American record title of 1:47.84 set in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>With her 200 IM and 200 free wins, Franklin is the first woman to win three individual titles since Katinka Hosszu did it for Southern California in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Franklin is just the second person to ever break 1:48 as she leapfrogged Gemma Spofforth (1:48.34) into second all time.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s California&#8217;s sixth win in the event&#8217;s history. Cincinnati                          1<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stanford&#8217;s Simone Manuel reclaimed the 100-yard freestyle American record at the NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Manuel blasted her way to a stunning 46.09 for the win to match her victory in the 50-yard freestyle earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Her time beat Abbey Weitzeil&#8217;s American record of 46.29 set as a relay leadoff for Canyons Aquatics in December, while also downing Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace&#8217;s 2012 NCAA record of 46.61.<\/p>\n<p>Manuel&#8217;s teammate Lia Neal claimed second tonight in 47.13 to move to seventh all time, while Florida&#8217;s Natalie Hinds picked up third in 47.19 to jump to 11th all time.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Stanford&#8217;s eighth victory in the 100 freestyle all time, but first since 1996.
