ORLANDO \u2013 The same foursome from Nation\u2019s Capital Swim Club that broke the 15-18 national age group record in the 400-yard medley relay last year at the NCSA junior nationals returned this year for one final short course race together before three of them head to college this fall. The result was a slightly faster time for the four to lower their record.<\/p>\n

James Shebat, Carsten Vissering, Andrew Seliskar and James Jones posted a 3:12.50 this morning in the 400 medley relay, barely beating their record of 3:12.58 from last year. The key to the faster time was Shebat\u2019s 48.24 on the backstroke, a full second faster than he swam last year. The remaining three splits were slower than last year.<\/p>\n

Shebat almost beat his lifetime best of 46.71 from this past February, and was slightly faster than the 46.88 he swam yesterday in the 100 back prelims. The four also were responsible for a new national age group record in the 200 medley relay<\/a> on Tuesday afternoon. That brings the national age group record tally to six at this year\u2019s NCSA juniors with one more session of racing left.<\/p>\n

Shebat is the top seed in tonight\u2019s 50 backstroke final, while Seliskar will go for another double in the 200 IM and 50 free. Jones is seeded second behind Seliskar in the 50 free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
