The NCAA Division III Championships featured some record-breaking swims throughout the night as the Emory women and Kenyon men earned day one leads.<\/p>\n

Emory leads the women’s title race after day one with 135.5 points. Denison (124), Kenyon (95), Williams (94) were second through fourth.<\/p>\n

The Kenyon men finished day one with a 21-point lead with 109 points. \u00a0Emory stood second with 88 points, while Williams (66), Denison (60) and CMS (54) made up the rest of the top five.<\/p>\n

Williams’ Sarah Thompson defended her title with a time of 4:45.13 this evening. \u00a0That’s a three-second drop from the 4:48.19 the senior used to win a year ago.<\/p>\n
Kenyon’s Mariah Williamson claimed second overall in 4:49.00, while Emory’s Rebecca Upton clinched third with a 4:50.02.<\/p>\n
Emory had a huge start with four point-scorers in the A and B final. Emory picked up 42 points with Denison (29) and Williams (25) standing second and third. \u00a0Kenyon (21) and DePauw (16) rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n

Men’s 500 free<\/strong><\/p>\n
A pair of swimmers wiped out the NCAA D3 record of 4:21.79 set by Denison’s Allen Weik in 2012. \u00a0Johns Hopkins’ Andrew Greenhalgh turned in a time of 4:20.60 for the victory and the new standard.<\/p>\n
Kenyon’s Arthur Conover nearly caught Greenhalgh as he came smoking home but settled for second in 4:20.95. Both swimmers beat Weik’s former record.<\/p>\n
Emory’s Christian Baker hit the wall third overall in the A final with a time of 4:24.30.<\/p>\n
Emory and Williams tied for the top of the team title race following the event with 27 points each. \u00a0Kenyon (21), Johns Hopkins (20) and Keene State (15) comprised the rest of the top five.<\/p>\n

Denison’s Michelle Howell managed to get her hand on the wall a second faster than the rest of the finale with a time of 2:01.59. \u00a0That’s about the same time Amherst’s Emily Hyde used to win last year with a 2:01.53, but still well short of the amazing 1:58.81 clocked by Williams’ Caroline Williams in 2013 for the NCAA D3 record.<\/p>\n
Williams Emma Waddell finished second tonight in 2:02.58 with Hyde earning third overall in 2:03.09.<\/p>\n
Emory stretched its leading tally to 92 points after the 200 IM, while Williams stood second with 55 points. \u00a0Denison (54), Kenyon (27) and Johns Hopkins (22) held third through fifth.<\/p>\n

Emory’s Andrew Wilson, who downed the 17-year-old NCAA D3 record of 1:46.97 set by CMS’ Gary Simon in 1998 with a 1:46.25 this morning, dropped a slight bit of time with a 1:46.23 to emerge victorious this evening.<\/p>\n
That’s a full second drop from the time Redlands’ Jeff Depew used to win this event a year ago (1:47.44).<\/p>\n
Mary Washington’s Hugh Anderson put up a 1:46 of his own with a second-place time of 1:46.46, while Johns Hopkins’ Evan Holder clinched third overall in 1:46.92.<\/p>\n
Depew, the defending champion, had to settle for fourth overall in 1:47.06.<\/p>\n
Emory and Kenyon are tied after the 200 IM with 49 points each, while Johns Hopkins is third with 36 points. \u00a0Williams (34) and Denison (31) are fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t the fastest time of the day, but it was the fastest when it counted as Johns Hopkins’ Anastasia Bogdanovski defended her 2014 title with a 22.85 this evening.<\/p>\n
Denison’s Carolyn Kane, who clocked a 22.84 in prelims, settled for second in 22.94 with Keene State’s Alison Bartlett snaring third tonight in 23.04.<\/p>\n
Emory\u00a0broke through the 100-point barrier first with 103.5 points, while Denison made up some ground to stand second with 96 points. \u00a0Williams held third with 55 points.<\/p>\n

Rowan’s Jesse Novak took home the men’s 50-yard free title with a time of 19.89. \u00a0Gettysburg’s Jason Potter hit the wall second in the finale with a time of 19.97, while Trinity’s Stephen Culberson placed third in 20.02.<\/p>\n
Kenyon led the men’s team-title race following the 50 free with 69 points, while Emoy (54) and Denison (42) were second and third. \u00a0Johns Hopkins (36) and Williams (34) stood fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n

Women’s three-meter diving<\/strong><\/p>\n
Wellesley’s Maura Sticco-Ivins won the women’s three-meter diving event with 500.35 points. \u00a0Hope College’s Sarah Sheridan claimed second tonight with 477.85 points. Kenyon’s Maria Zarka picked up major team points with a third-place effort of 463.15.<\/p>\n
Emory remained in first with 103.5 points, while Denison was second with 96 points. \u00a0Williams held third with 64 points, while Kenyon moved its tally to 55 for fourth after diving.<\/p>\n

Kenyon’s Celia Oberholzer (25.56), Laura Duncan (27.87), Hannah Cooper (24.58) and Jenner McLeod (22.57) claimed the relay title with an NCAA D3 record of 1:40.58.<\/p>\n
That swim cleared the 2009 NCAA D3 record of 1:41.17 set by Denison as well as the meet record of 1:41.20 also set by Denison in 2009.<\/p>\n
NYU’s Emily Doerner (26.32), Katie Webber (27.80), Serena Yan (24.72) and Elise Gibbs (22.59) clinched second overall in 1:41.43.<\/p>\n
Emory’s Claire Liu (25.96), Annelise Kowalsky (28.57), Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe (24.73) and Nancy Larson (22.67) turned in a third-place time of 1:41.93.<\/p>\n
