The NCAA Division III Championships\u00a0kicked off with a fast first day of qualifying. \u00a0Emory’s Andrew Wilson lowered the NCAA D3 record in the men’s 200-yard IM.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Emory and Denison set up a huge night of scoring in the women’s events with Emory claiming seven A finalists and five B finalists. \u00a0Denison picked up seven A finalists and two B finalists.<\/p>\n

For the men, Kenyon led the way with five A finalists and four B finalists. Emory (4\/2) and Denison (2\/4) claimed six total finalists each.<\/p>\n

Women’s 500 free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Williams’ Sarah Thompson posted the top time this morning with a 4:47.67, and will have plenty of time to drop to track down Kendra Stern’s D3 record of 4:43.37 from 2011.<\/p>\n

Emory’s Rebecca Upton qualified second in 4:48.14 with Kenyon’s Mariah Williamson posting a third-seeded 4:49.27. \u00a0Denison’s Campbell Costley, the top seed coming into the meet, qualified fourth in 4:49.85.<\/p>\n

Emory and Denison had strong mornings with Emory gaining four total point-scorers and Denison earning three.<\/p>\n

Johns Hopkins’ Andrew Greenhalgh just missed the NCAA D3 record in the event with a sizzling time of 4:21.85. \u00a0He will be vying for the 4:21.79 set by Denison’s Allen Weik back in 2012.<\/p>\n
Emory’s Christian Baker turned in a second-seeded time of 4:23.45, while Kenyon’s Arthur Conover clocked a 4:23.80 for the third seed this morning.<\/p>\n
Emory and Williams both claimed two A finalists.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n
Barring a huge time drop tonight, Caroline Wilson’s NCAA D3 record of 1:58.81 from 2013 is likely safe another year.<\/p>\n
Amherst’s Emily Hyde picked up the top seed in 2:02.10, while Denison’s Michelle Howell qualified second in 2:02.15. \u00a0Bates’ Sara Daher also made the top three out of prelims with a 2:02.52.<\/p>\n
Emory will gain a huge point swing in this event with five total point scorers as Emory picked up three A finalists and two B finalists.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n
Emory’s Andrew Wilson downed the NCAA D3 record in the men’s 200-yard IM with a time of 1:46.25. \u00a0That performance cleared the previous top time of 1:46.97 set by CMS’s Gary Simon way back in 1998. \u00a0That’s a 17-year-old record.<\/p>\n
Kenyon’s Trevor Manz took second this morning our of prelims with a 1:46.82, also under the previous record, while Johns Hopkins’ Evan Holder qualified third overall in 1:47.01.<\/p>\n

Denison’s Carolyn Kane took a run at the NCAA D3 record with a 22.84 in prelims this morning. That’s just a bit off Kristen Nitz’s 2013 mark of 22.66.<\/p>\n
Johns Hopkins’ Anastasia Bogdanovski qualified second this morning with a 23.00, while Keene State’s Alison Bartlett posted a third-seeded 23.03.<\/p>\n
Pre-meet top-seed Emma Paulson of St. Thomas qualified fourth in 23.10.<\/p>\n
Denison returned fire at Emory with three A finalists, while Emory earned two B finalists.<\/p>\n

Rowan’s Jesse Novak had the top time this morning with a 19.82 as three swimmers cleared 20 seconds.<\/p>\n
Gettysburg’s Jason Potter posted a 19.93 for the second seed, while Coast Guard’s Christian Brindamour clocked a 19.94 for the third seed.<\/p>\n
Those three will all be vying for Zach Turk’s amazing NCAA D3 record of 19.38 from 2012.<\/p>\n
Kenyon had a strong event with an A finalist and two B finalists.<\/p>\n

Kenyon moved within striking distance of the NCAA D3 record as Celia Oberholzer (25.87), Laura Duncan (28.17), Hannah Cooper (24.51) and Jourdan Cline (23.24) clocked a 1:41.79 to lead the way. \u00a0Denison holds the D3 mark with a 1:41.17 from 2009.<\/p>\n
NYU’s Emily Boermer (25.70), Katie Webber (28.93), Serena Yan (24.73) and Elise Gibbs (22.84) qualified second in 1:42.20 with Williams’ Katherine Bennett (26.05), Olivia Clark (29.43), Emma Waddell (23.75) and Faye Sultan (23.14) earning the third seed in 1:42.37.<\/p>\n

Emory’s Mitchell Cooper (23.65), Andrew Wilson (23.83), Hayden Baker (21.35) and Oliver Smith (19.66) hit the wall in second with a time of 1:28.49, while Williams’ Benjamin Lin (22.45), Jake Tamposi (25.03), Thad Ricotta (21.96) and Alex McCarter (20.31) qualified third in 1:29.75.<\/p>\n
