That means two generations of swimmers have gone through the sport and have been unable to surpass Kostoff, who was a star in distance freestyle as a youngster before making the 1984 and 1988 Olympics in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n<h2>Matthew Hirschberger 1000 free splits<\/h2>\n<p>100: 50.96<br \/>\n200: 1:43.95 (52.99)<br \/>\n300: 2:36.34 (52.39)<br \/>\n400: 3:28.80 (52.46)<br \/>\n500: 4:21.55 (52.75)<br \/>\n600: 5:14.43 (52.88)<br \/>\n700: 6:07.35 (52.92)<br \/>\n800: 7:00.21 (52.86)<br \/>\n900: 7:53.16 (52.95)<br \/>\n1000: 8:45.11 (51.95)<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s time is now the 10th-fastest performance in history, bumping Chad Carvin&#8217;s 8:45.27. That record is also held by Kostoff at 8:48.57.
