COLUMBUS, Ohio, November 19. THE Army men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Williams College in the Ephs' season opener. The Army men defeated Williams 154-100 while the women won 148.5-113.5.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 Medley Relay
\nThe Lady Knights opened the meet with a win in the first race. The team of Blair Miller, Kim Defiori, Cora Freeman and Paige Dellavalle finished in 1:49.63. The Williams College quad Amanda Nicholson, Courtney Asher, Kristan McIntosh and Laura McCarthy claimed second in 1:52.51. Finishing one second later, the Army \u2018B' team grabbed third place in 1:53.42.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 Medley Relay
\nThe Army men opened the meet sweeping the first two places in the first event. The \u2018A' team of Mark Lesak, Jacob Mentele, Zachary Disbrow and Thomas Rice hit the wall first in 1:35.61. Teammates John Kreitler, Spencer Kelly, Stephen Tangen and Will Eggers stopped the clock two seconds later at 1:37.09. Williams finished on the heels of the Army \u2018B' team, finishing the race in 1:37.31. <\/p>\n
Women's 1,000-yard freestyle
\nThe Ephs women went 1-2 in the distance event with Mary Molen (10:39.33) and Annie Ferguson (10:47.56) filling the respective spots. Ann Di Domenico was the Military Academy's top finisher with a time of 11:02.42 for third.<\/p>\n
Men's 1,000-yard freestyle
\nKyle Newman of Army finished the distance race first, coming in at 9:49.32. Williams' swimmer Stephen Spinelli was close behind with a time of 9:50.30. Another Army swimmer Cary Cohan rounded out the top three in 9:53.90.<\/p>\n
Women's 200-yard freestyle
\nArmy swimmer Amanda Otto finished ahead of a slue of Williams' swimmer, finishing the race in 1:56.21. Sophia Sequeira placed second with a time of 1:57.77 while teammate Christina Metcalf rounded out the Top 3 in 1:59.49.<\/p>\n
Men's 200-yard freestyle
\nMilitary Academy swimmers sandwiched Ephs' Christoppher Millen in the podium positions in the event. Efraim Ruthenberg earned the title with his time of 1:41.45, while teammate Charles Ciliske (1:45.15) filled the third-place spot. Millen completed the race in 1:43.57.<\/p>\n
Women's 100-yard Backstroke
\nAmanda Nicholson of the Ephs was the only swimmer to complete the race under 1:00.00, capturing the win in 59.53. USMA swimmer Blair Miller stopped the clock at 1:01.00 for the runner-up position. Lady Knight Chelsey Freeman completed the first three places in 1:02.39.<\/p>\n
Men's 100-yard Backstroke
\nWilliams recorded its first win on the men's side in a close race between the Top four finishers. David McManic out swam three Black Knight swimmers, touching in at 53.46. John Kreitler finished one-tenth later at 53.56 while junior Quentin Walsh swam a time of 53.86. <\/p>\n
Women's 100-yard Breaststroke
\nKim DeFiori earned a victory in the sprint breaststroke event, finishing it in 1:08.52. Two Williams swimmers were responsible for the next two places. Courtney Asher raced to second in 1:10.00 ahead of fellow Eph Lisa Cucolo (1:10.21).<\/p>\n
Men's 100-yard Breaststroke
\nArmy swept the event, with Jacob Mentele leading the division. He hit the wall first in 57.35. James McLaughlin was next with 59.65. Spencer Kelly swam a time of 1:00.08 for third. Tyler Bonewell was Williams' highest-place finisher at fourth with 1:01.02.<\/p>\n
Women's 200-yard Butterfly
\nChelsey Freeman and Slyvia Beck sandwiched Williams College opponent Anne Marie Zollo on the podium. Freeman won in a time of 2:12.26, while Zollo finished in 2:14.01 and Beck swam a time of 2:16.14.<\/p>\n
Men's 200-yard Butterfly
\nZachary Disbrow headed the butterfly event, finishing ahead of two Williams swimmers in a time of 1:53.24. Christoppher Millen was the runner-up at 1:56.88 while teammate Norman Scott rounded out the Top 3. Scott finished the race in 1:58.36.<\/p>\n
Women's 50-yard Freestyle
\nUSMA captured the gold and silver in the sprint, with Cora Freeman (24.88) finishing first and Paige Dellavalle (25.13) sliding into second. Kristan McIntosh was the fastest Eph swimmer. Her time of 25.59 earned her third place. <\/p>\n
Men's 50-yard Freestyle
\nThe Military Academy swept the sprint event, with Will Eggers winning in 21.96. Thomas Rice grabbed the silver when he stopped the clock at 22.13. Mark Lesak completed the podium with his 22.34. Nicholas Galluci was Williams' fastest swimmer, finishing the race in 22.50 for fourth place. <\/p>\n
Women's 100-yard Freestyle
\nThe Lady Knights recorded another win for the night when Paige Dellavalle stopped the clock first at 54.61. Williams swimmers completed the medal positions. Sophia Sequeira (55.01) edged out teammate Christina Metcalf (55.12) for second. Metcalf took third.<\/p>\n
Men's 100-yard Freestyle
\nThe Army was responsible for the first four places, with Efriam Ruthenberg picking up the title in a time of 46.99. Michael Soderberg finished next in 47.36 with Will Eggers stopping the clock at 48.49 for the bronze. <\/p>\n
Women's 200-yard Backstroke
\nWilliams' Amanda Nicholson touched in ahead of a crew of USMA swimmers for the win in a time of 2:07.15. Kim DeFiori led her teammates, finishing second in 2:11.86. Cora Freeman came in next in 2:12.69 for third. <\/p>\n
Men's 200-yard Backstroke
\nJohn Hutchinson picked up the win for Army, completing the race in 1:55.98. Quentin Walsh followed suit, finishing in 1:57.22. David McManic of Williams hit the wall third in a time of 1:58.45.<\/p>\n
Women's 200-yard Breaststroke
\nCourtney Asher touched out Lady Knight Erin Hanley to pick up the title with a time of 2:29.50. Hanley earned silver in 2:29.68. Third place went back to the Ephs as Christina Metcalf posted a third-place time of 2:39.63.<\/p>\n
Men's 200-yard Breaststroke
\nUSMA Junior Jacob Mentele won the race with a sizeable lead, finishing six seconds ahead of the heat at 2:04.23. Ephs' Tyler Bonewell touched out the Military Academy's Drew Michaelson with a time of 2:10.46 for second, while Michaelson finished shortly after in 2:10.57.<\/p>\n
Women's 500-yard Freestyle
\nAmanda Otta was responsible for posting the winning time of 5:10.40 for the Knights. Mary Molen of Williams took home the silver in 5:12.34, while opposing team member Ann Di Domenico finished third in 5:18.59. <\/p>\n
Men's 500-yard Freestyle
\nKyle Newman recorded a winning time of 4:41.59 for the Black Knights in the mid-distance event. WC swimmer Stephen Spinelli touched in second with a time of 4:46.12. Jeffrey Tolbert swam to third place in 4:46.21.<\/p>\n
Women's 100-yard Butterfly
\nA pair of Freeman's secured first and second place for the Military Academy. Chelsey Freeman swam a time of 58.92 for the gold and Cora Freeman raced the event in a time of 59.11 for second. Lisa Cucolo rounded out the trio in 59.91 for WC. <\/p>\n
Men's 100-yard Butterfly
\nWilliams College posted the top three swimmers in the sprint fly event. Norman Scott, Thatcher Heumann and Timothy Ryan medaled with the respective times of 52.00, 54.72 and 54.78. Zachary Disbrow of the Army swam the fastest time of 50.38, but the team chose to swim the remaining events as exhibition. <\/p>\n
Women's 200-yard Individual Medley
\nCaroline O'Sullivan (2:10.37) recorded a victory for USMA, out swimming the Eph's Amanda Nicholson (2:10.70), who finished second. O'Sullivan's teammate finished five seconds behind the women in 2:15.67. <\/p>\n
Men's 200-yard Individual Medley
\nWilliams College ended the individual events with three top finishers. Christoppher Millen sailed to first in a time of 1:56.61. Teammates David McManic and Matthew Neuber followed with the respective ties of 2:03.10 and 2:05.00. Jacob Mentele was Army's fastest swimmer in the event, completing the race in 1:56.18.<\/p>\n
Women's 400-yard Freestyle Relay
\nUSMA ended the meet with a win in the relay. The quad of Beck, Dellavalle, Di Domenico and Otto hit the wall first in 3:39.70. Williams College grabbed the next two scoring positions. The \u2018A' team finished second in 3:40.36, with the \u2018B' team rounding out the podium with a time of 3:45.62.<\/p>\n
Men's 400-yard Freestyle Relay
\nWilliams' \u2018A' team of Scott, Spinelli, Kirwan and Galluci garnered first place in a time of 3:18.40. The Ephs squad of Heumann, Ryan, Bullitt and Millen stopped the clock next at 3:19.39, while the remaining scoring position went to Williams' \u2018C' team. <\/p>\n
