DENVER, Colorado, November 15. THE Colorado State University swimming and diving team improved to 5-0 on Tuesday evening with a dual-meet victory over the University of Denver. The Rams defeated the Pioneers 174-121.<\/p>\n
The Rams swam to top-finishes in nine of the meet's 16 events and took home the four top spots in three events, including the 100 Breaststroke, 1-Meter diving, and the 200 Breaststroke.<\/p>\n
The Rams were led by Tara Staley who picked up two individual wins, along with a top-finish as part of the Rams' "A" relay in the 200 Medley Relay (1:48.16) with Brette Winegarner, Vicki Curtis and Karin Knudson. Staley, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev. won the 200 Free in a time of 1:55.05, just 0.81 seconds ahead of teammate Carmen Cianci (1:55.86). Staley also won the 100 fly in a season-best time of 57.89 and Nora Kennedy (58.24) took second in the event for the Rams.<\/p>\n
Other Rams to win multiple individual events included freshman Jen Muniz who set a personal best in the 200 Fly (2:05.58) and won the 100 Free (53.79), and Elyse Hall who took home top honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with scores of 272.62 and 300.37, respectively, both season-best scores.<\/p>\n
In addition to the 200 Medley Relay victory, freshman Vicki Curtis and Karin Knudson each won an individual event. Curtis won the 100 Breaststroke (107.12) and Knudson paced everyone in the 50 Free with a season-best 24.43. Rounding out the Rams' top-finishers was sophomore Annsley Lujan who finished first in the 200 Breatstroke (2:24.68).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
