Day one of the NCAA Division II Championships featured a slew of NCAA D2 records. \u00a0The second day produced some similar results with another handful of NCAA D2 records taking a tumble.<\/p>\n

Drury, Queens and Nova Southeastern each had strong mornings on the women’s side with Drury leading Queens, 128-123, after day one.<\/p>\n

Drury and Queens also set up strong nights in the men’s events, and will be looking to overcome Lindenwood and Grand Valley’s first-place day one tie at 94 points.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 free relay<\/strong><\/p>\n

A trio of teams put up 1:32s this morning to lead qualifying.<\/p>\n

Drury’s Katya Rudenko, Tessa Tilton, Wen Xu and Janet Yu led the way with a 1:32.79, while Queens’ Lillian Gordy, Alexandra Marshall, Kristin Diemer and Shane Knight qualified\u00a0second in 1:32.84. \u00a0Nova Southeastern’s Bryndis Hansen, Emma Wahlstrom, Jordan Shows and Emma Lawrenz claimed the third seed in 1:32.93.<\/p>\n

Drury’s 2014 NCAA D2 record of 1:19.00 is likely on borrowed time today as Tampa’s RB Borgen, Jeremy Parker, Martin Hammer and Khalid Aldaboos blasted a time of 1:19.20 for the top time this morning in the men’s 200-yard free relay.<\/p>\n
Bridgeport’s Vladislav Paska, Ruben Gimenez, Ivan Capan and Antonio Nunez qualified second in 1:19.70 and could give the record a run as well tonight.<\/p>\n
Queens’ Nic Eriksson, Ben Taylor, Austin Sumrall and Hayden Kosater snared third overall in 1:20.19.<\/p>\n

Nova Southeastern’s Courtney Deveny put up the top time of the morning with a 4:18.59, while LIU Post’s Caroline Rademacher cruised into second with a time of 4:19.70.<\/p>\n
Ashland’s Hannah Mattar clinched the third-seed with a 4:20.31, while the top seed coming into the meet, Queens’ Caroline Arakelian, put up an easy speed 4:20.33 for fourth.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n
Queens’ Nick Arakelian, who already lowered the NCAA D2 record with a 3:46.15 at the Bluegrass Mountain Championships last month, smoked prelims with a 3:47.75.<\/p>\n
Arakelian is likely to break the meet record of 3:47.62 set by Piotr Jachowicz in 2013.<\/p>\n
Cal Baptist’s Josh Hanson (3:53.02) and West Chester’s Michael Oliver (3:53.64) are set up for a close battle for second tonight with Arakelian likely crushing the field in finals.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n
Wingate’s Armony Dumur lit the pool afire this morning in the 100 fly with an NCAA D2 record. \u00a0She crushed prelims with a sterling time of 52.44.<\/p>\n
That swim cleared the previous record of 53.45 set by Hannah Peiffer last year by more than a second.<\/p>\n
Peiffer, meanwhile, almost took it too easy this morning as she qualified sixth in 54.64.<\/p>\n
LIU Post’s Joyce Kwok raced her way to the second seed in a time of 53.63, while Carson-Newman’s Natalie Burnett qualified third in 53.94.<\/p>\n

Queens’ Matt Josa, who stunned the crowd last night by moving to 19th all time in the 200 IM<\/a>, threatened his NCAA D2 record in the 100 fly with a 45.61 in qualifying.<\/p>\n
That swim just missed his 2014 mark of 45.45 set for Queens as a freshman.<\/p>\n
Grand Valley’s Gianni Ferrero qualified second in 46.57 with Wayne State’s Soren Holm earning the third seed in 46.66. \u00a0They will likely be vying for second tonight as Josa pushes for a sub-45-second 100 fly this evening.<\/p>\n

Bryndis Hansen of Nova Southeastern, last night’s 50 free winner, qualified second this morning in 1:47.79, while Queens’ Lillian Gordy earned third overall in 1:47.85.<\/p>\n
Queens had a particularly strong morning with three A finalists.<\/p>\n

Polyakov will have to drop more than a second to challenge Matt Josa’s NCAA D2 record of 1:34.21 from last year.<\/p>\n
Four other swimmers put up 1:35s to set up a potentially close content tonight.<\/p>\n
Simon Fraser’s Adrian VanderHelm (1:35.91), Nova Southeastern’s Thiago Sickert (1:35.95), Queens’ Ben Taylor (1:35.98) and Florida Southern’s Jesus Marin (1:35.99) all cleared 1:36.<\/p>\n

Ouch! Cal Baptist’s Mary Hanson, Alene Rumiantceva, Tina Tchernyschev and Patricia Hapsari had initially put up the top time in prelims with a 3:41.01, but watched the time fall off the scoreboard due to a disqualification.<\/p>\n
That delivered the top seed to Wingate, which had Rita Koryukova, Olga Kosheleva, Armony Dumur and Sofia Petrenko posting a 3:41.11.<\/p>\n
Drury’s Katya Rudenko, Lucie Jolly, Vera Johansson and Wen Xu qualified second in 3:42.84, while Queens’ Hannah Peiffer, Caroline Arakelian, Patricia Castro Ortega and Kristin Diemer placed third this morning in 3:43.23.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 medley relay<\/strong><\/p>\n
The disqualification hammer certainly dropped hard and often during the men’s 400-yard medley relay with a trio of teams all being ousted from finals.<\/p>\n
Nova Southeastern’s Marco Aldabe (49.91), Anton Lobanov (50.86), Thiago Sickert (46.51) and Magnus Lundgren (43.66)\u00a0initially broke the NCAA D2 record with a 3:10.95, but had that time wiped from history with a DQ.<\/p>\n
Lindenwood and West Chester also drew disqualifications.<\/p>\n
Queens’ John Suther, Nic Eriksson, Matt Josa and Zach Phelps turned in a 3:09.72 to officially break the squad’s 2014 record of 3:11.10.<\/p>\n
Drury’s Jordi Joan Montseny Diez, Kacper Pelczynski, Stanislav Kuzmin and Samuel Olson qualified second in 3:11.75 with Wayne State’s Juan David Molina Perez, Piotr Jachowicz, Soren Holm and Josh Schacht taking third overall in 3:13.63.<\/p>\n
