{"id":125758,"date":"2015-03-08T19:22:22","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T02:22:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=125758"},"modified":"2015-03-08T19:22:22","modified_gmt":"2015-03-09T02:22:22","slug":"madison-homovich-doubles-two-sectional-records-final-night-greensboro-sectionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/madison-homovich-doubles-two-sectional-records-final-night-greensboro-sectionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Madison Homovich Doubles With Two Sectional Records on Final Night of Greensboro Sectionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GREENSBORO &#8211; North Carolina Aquatic Club distance ace Madison Homovich, 14, closed out a stellar meet with two more individual victories and sectional records in the 1650 free and 200 back as the Greensboro Sectionals meet came to a close at the Greensboro Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n<p>SwimMAC Carolina swept the top three spots in the first event of the night, the women&#8217;s 100 free, as Rebecca Postoll, Alyssa Marsh and Caitlin Casazza occupied the top three spots on the podium. Postoll led the way in the only sub-50 performance of the meet at 49.72. Marsh, who won the 50 free and 100 back last night, grabbed second in 50.15, while Casazza clocked a 51.00 to finish third.<\/p>\n<p>Homovich annihilated the field in the women&#8217;s 1650 free, stopping the clock at 16:03.01 to chop 15 seconds off her personal best and lower Kelsey Ditto&#8217;s 2007 sectional record of 16:10.81 by almost eight seconds. Anna Jahns of Gwinnett Aquatics finished 45 seconds behind in 16:48.39, while Triangle Aquatic&#8217;s Ana Pozder wrapped up third in 16:48.54.<\/p>\n<p>Six out of the eight finalists in the men&#8217;s 200 back broke 1:50, led by unattached swimmer Samuel Stewart, in 1:47.85. North Carolina Aquatic Club&#8217;s William Macmillan held onto his second seed from prelims with a 1:48.23 for second, only .02 in front of SwimMAC Carolina&#8217;s Nathaniel Murray (1:48.25).<\/p>\n<p>Homovich collected her second win and second sectional record of the evening in the women&#8217;s 200 back final, dipping under her own record of 1:59.64 from prelims with a 1:59.27. Prior to prelims, the record had stood at 2:00.58, a mark Stephanie Glover set in 2002. Hilton Head Aquatics&#8217; Elizabeth Felix also swam under the old time with a 2:00.38, while SwimMAC Carolina&#8217;s Stephanie Nelson rounded out the top three in 2:01.21.<\/p>\n<p>Noah Cairns of North Carolina Aquatic Club bested the field in the men&#8217;s 1650 free final, posting a 15:26.81 to knock nearly 14 seconds off his previous personal best. Raleigh Swimming Association&#8217;s Jamison Hauser finished a distant second in 15:53.50, while Athens Bulldog&#8217;s Robert Wylie came in third with a 15:54.83.<\/p>\n<p>SwimMAC Carolina&#8217;s Caitlin Casazza finished in the top three for a second time in the 200 IM, posting a winning effort of 2:00.53. She finished just outside Melissa Klein&#8217;s 2002 sectional record of 2:00.41. Triangle Aquatic&#8217;s Julia Poole claimed second in 2:02.74, with Athens Bulldog&#8217;s Danielle Dellatorre in third at 2:04.17.<\/p>\n<p>Lanier Aquatics&#8217; Colin Monaghan claimed the final individual event title up for grabs in Greensboro, dipping under 1:50 in the men&#8217;s 200 IM with a 1:49.65, a nearly three second drop from prelims. Samuel Stewart earned another podium finish with his 1:50.68 for second, while Alec Scott picked up third in 1:50.73.<\/p>\n<p>SwimMAC Carolina&#8217;s Stephanie Nelson, Meghan Dupay, Caitlin Casazza and Alexis Souther put together a 3:45.34 to win the 400 medley relay by two tenths over Cardinal Aquatics&#8217; Zorryonna Mason, Kaylee Wheeler, Grace Oglesby and Gabriela Albiero (3:45.54). North Carolina Aquatic Club picked up third with Claire Deselm, Julie Hu, Madison Homovich and Mia Morrell swimming a 3:49.30.<\/p>\n<p>Results from the men&#8217;s 100 free final and men&#8217;s 400
