Spain’s Beatriz Gomez Cortes finished second in 8:32.14 to move to seventh overall in the world rankings. \u00a0Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu wound up third in 8:33.12.<\/p>\n
Faroe Islands’ Pal Joensen won the men’s 1500-meter free by more than five seconds with a 15:10.35. That swim put him third in the world behind Mack Horton (14:55.76) and Mykhailo Romanchuk (14:58.49).<\/p>\n
Germany’s Jacob Heldtmann finished second in 15:15.36 for seventh in the early world rankings, while Brazil’s Brandonn Almeida closed out the top three in 15:34.59.<\/p>\n
In a battle of some heavyweight names, Denmark’s Mie Nielsen raced her way to second in the world in the women’s 100-meter back with a 59.14. \u00a0That swim is behind only Emily Seebohm’s sizzling 58.89 from the BHP Super Series.<\/p>\n
USA’s Natalie Coughlin, sticking her toe back into backstroke this year after focusing almost exclusively on freestyle last year, took second in 1:00.20 to move to fifth in the world.<\/p>\n

France’s Camille Lacourt edged Great Britain’s Christopher Walker-Hebborn in the men’s 100-meter back, 53.74 to 53.87, for the title. \u00a0Lacourt has been faster with a third-ranked 53.60 from the Amiens stop, while Walker-Hebborn moved up to a sixth-ranked tie with Junya Koga.<\/p>\n
Brazil’s Guilherme Guido wound up third overall tonight in 54.75.<\/p>\n
Sjostrom doubled up for the second day in a row with a 53.66 to win the women’s 100-meter free. \u00a0That swim pushed her to fourth in the world behind Cate Campbell (53.13), Bronte Campbell (53.14) and Femke Heemskerk (53.63).<\/p>\n
France’s Charlotte Bonnet took second in 54.31 to grab seventh in the world, while Denmark’s Pernille Blume picked up third tonight in 55.19.<\/p>\n
France’s Mehdy Metella closed out the Marseille stop of the Golden Tour with a 48.85 in the men’s 100-meter free. \u00a0That swim moved him to third in the world behind James Magnussen (48.43) and Cameron McEvoy (48.76).<\/p>\n
